I used to always view BB as a show, where some of the well known TV celebs and perhaps some celebs are that well known but out of work - are called to participate. Either way, the show had celebs in the past and people that may have needed to revive their career.

Over time, the show has become kinda weird and the agenda has changed.

Instead of presenting us known celebs whom we could watch and observe - we are presented with faces that we sometimes don't even know! Mostly from kiddish MTV / youth based shows. Folks we don't even know! It seems like BB now has become a show for unknown folks, new / struggling strangers to find a ticket to quick fame.

It is always interesting for a viewer to watch a celeb that they've known on TV or sometimes from BW, put their 'celeb' guard down and behave like a normal person. To watch how they respond to situations, how political / non-political they are, what their temperament is like etc. The earlier seasons were so amazing, mostly star studded. Some big TV names too!

But now, the standards of the show have dropped so much with respect to not being able to rope in, enough known names.

For example - apart from the OTT contestants that we've already watched, the only folks I know in BB15 are Karan Kundra, Jay Bhanushali, Tejaswani. They've been around for a while. Everyone else seems meh.

What are your views on the contestants this season?

I am on the other side of the spectrum as I don't like established celebrities coming to the show. With hired pr agencies and industry connections, they never get judged the way they deserved.

On the other hand, with lesser knows people and outsiders, people judge them fairly and they also get a platform to get noticed. Even Salman is more honest with these people.

In past, some very undeserving candidates won the show solely by their fame. They did nothing in the show and this trend should be stopped.

Agreed with the last paragraph.. known faces take advantages of trending and PR's

No one knew Asim before BB13 but now almost everyone in India knows him so there is a good side to it as well. No one knew Nora Fatehi either

Its rather better to have mixed bag.

It just that we dont expand our horizon and we think only TV Celebs ya Movie actors are known people.

For Example

Afsana Khan is a very well established Singer in Punjab

Akasa Singh is a very well known VJ and has some hit pop songs to her name

Mix of known and unknown is always better.

I wonder why people want to see known faces? Actors get famous due to good stories and good looks mostly. None of which has anything to do with their real self.

Known face is not equal to entertainment.

Exactly. You've answered the question yourself. The reason people want to see known faces, is to learn who and what they are behind closed doors. A show like BB unmasks and unveils them.

People idolize a lot of celebs when they watch them on hit TV shows, but my interest lies in finding out, if I'll respect them as much once they come out of a show like BB. I might love them for their art, but will I like them for who they really are when the 'celeb' mask if off? That's a fascinating question to me.

It's fascinating to see them being put through fire, to see how their personality arc develops in a show like BB. Are they too proud to admit their faults? or are they humble? Are the sensible and reasonable, or are they biased and entitled? BB exposes many of them, for the good or the bad.

Example - I used to like Raqesh Bapat as an Actor, I like Sukirti Khandpal as an Actor - but I thoroughly disliked them on BB for their real personas. Their thought processes were revealed and those were simply cringe. Especially Popat Bapat. On the hind sight, there were some people I was neutral about and some I didn't like at all (especially if they were affiliated with past reality shows) - but they made me fall in love with them, when I saw them in BB.

So a Celeb or a 'known' personality, builds that fascination in a show like this for me. But to each his own.
