I would really like to know where this has been called out and by whom. What I have noticed is that the last part is often a defensive argument when fingers are pointed at one party. The question is always raised - usko kyu nahi criticise kar rahe ?

Hinduphobia debate is not started with BJP though, it might have gained online importance due to BJP but it was going through the times of pre-independence.

Most of the Gandhi's and Nehru's critiques were born due to this very logic.

See the thing is, everybody should call out the ill practices of Hinduism, but at the same time if the person keeps mum when it comes to the other religions, they will be accused of being Hinduphobic, simple math. Like every concept, Hinduphobia is misused by people to tackle any argument, but that doesn't change the fact that some people have misunderstood secularism and are afraid to call out other religions because they don't want to appear as Islamophobic or any other term according to the religion.

If you(not you) are going to give them benefit of doubt, give everyone the same, or don't act all progressive when it comes to Hinduism and than turn blind eye to Islam or any other religion.

Karwa chaut ho ya Rakshabandhan ya phir Kanyadaan, all are outdated concepts, and if somebody doesn't want to celebrate them, I say dont force them. But if someone is doing them, don't demonise them either, because for them it is a normal thing, unless this leads to some personal harm to someone, I don't see why we are having debates.

If a change happens it's slow and steady, a constant effort through numerous experiences, arguments and debates is needed for people to change their mentality.

I was going to say the same. It takes time to change the perspectives

It's an amazing topic and all the comments I read show how much religion and rituals interfere in the social being together of mankind.

Yet who created these religions and rituals?! Obviously mankind...in an amazing diversity...in general claiming that this part of the own culture is the one that matters.

And why do people claim this, why would anybody support a thought-system that gives power to one gender...that - in a larger sense - gives power to someone over another?

Isn't it interesting that the human rights are the most neglected rights in the world? That love and respect have become tools to oppress another human being?

And about parents: Since when it is a kind of law (even a moral one) that children "have to care" for their parents especially when these parents made a hell of their kids' life???

I favour the "tribal" idea that one lives in a community (every age together) so everybody can contribute in the best way they can regardless the kinship. Civilization has destroyed this concept and the faults in our "human machine" tend to destroy a life in peace, love and mutual respect.

We owe them and it's common sense. They have raised us when we were weak and vulnerable and thus we need to take care of them when they are weak and vulnerable.

You watch movies from the UK and US. Christianity is the majority religion there and they have plenty of movies and shows mocking christianity and jesus. Have you ever watched south park? Look for an episode called 'Red Hot Catholic Love' - this ad will feel like tele-tubbies in front of it.

They even have serious, mainstream movies tackling problems that are prevalent in Christianity. It is very common. And sure there are staunch, orthodox christians who have a problem with these movies and shows and call for their ban, but these movies and shows are still made.

I do not know much about movies and shows in middle eastern and islamic countries, so cannot really comment on that.

Even in this thread, people are claiming Hindu-phobia amongst other people who are most likely Hindus. The criticism is coming from Hindus, many of them practicing Hindus. There is no real threat to Hinduism, besides politics and politicians.

Islam can't get away with anything just by playing Minority card every time. It sincerely needs reform. As Bollywood is filled with so many intellectuals idk why they don't come up with ideas regarding it.

Have you ever seen any Bollywood people talking about Kashmiri Pandits except few Right wingers? Are we going to tolerate every atrocity till the point a specific group is minority and God knows what will happen when the number would be > 50%

I will wait for advertisement shot in Afghanistan about women equality, their dressing etc.

From my previous thread someone mentioned that it's the biggest sin to celebrate other God. I mean how can someone hate people coz they don't believe in your ideology. There is a fundamental flaw in it's ideology for a society where everyone has to live together.

There is high level of hypocrisy regarding this everywhere. I highlighted issue regarding Muslim fanatics and people started bashing both Hindus & Muslims. (and I got to know that it's the biggest sin so I am not sure were they fanatics or sincere followers)

I hate this HYPOCRISY

I think there are exceptions to this, some people shouldn't have children when they can't care for them.

Some parents do destroy the lives of their children - its a fact, a son is only a son if he gets into IIT, of he chooses another profession, parents berate or are disappointed for life because he doesn't fulfil their dreams. A girl is being harassed and beaten up by the in-laws and husband but her own parents won't let her get a divorce since they chose the damaad, they don't mind her dying but she cannot leave him.

Parents are not always saints.

It's not like honour killings don't exist, or parents haven't killed, abused their own kids for their selfish needs. They are humans, after all and not infallible.

I think many people here don't relate to Muslim traditions or don't have anything to do with - so it is not affecting us. People relate personally to things like Kanyadan so it gets talked about.

Like, terrorism still affects our country and we are getting impacted by it - so we can talk about it.

But I can agree that its true to an extent - that you cannot criticise Islamic practices - most muslims are more sensitive about it.

Correct. I guess having understanding parents is really a boon.

I was talking in general not for these extreme cases.

Bold part is so regular in my community that it looks normal to me and I get amazed that how much entitled males are in our society

She is a great actress, but I think she pays off Filmfare. Her rich husband makes sure she is taken care of. What do you think?
