I have a question for all lovely members here. Why is a man living in his wife's home considered insulting? Why is such man called ghar jamai in a derogatory manner and a woman living in her husband's house is called only bahu? Since we are living in an era of equal opportunities for men and women why can't a ghar jammai have same respect as bahu?

P.S I am not supporting Sunny or Keerti staying in RR mansion. This is a general question. Please consider answering if you people find the topic interesting.

no problem in ghar jamai but that house neither belongs to Kirti nor her parents..its her brothers house and they are living without his will.. its same as if a guy marries a girl without consent of his parents… and they don’t want them in their house but male ego is as such he leaves immediately but here since its female and Sunny has no conscience they are still in this house…

also the way parents generally don’t throw the boy for the girl its same here.. tbh I don’t think its something against equality…totally my opinion though

Thanks for raising this point. I was thinking about the same thing earlier.

Yes, putting aside Sunny, I agree with you.

Why is it considered derogatory and what's wrong with a woman choosing to stay with her family and her husband moving in with her?

There are men who earn a living and provide for their family but live with the in-laws. It doesn't make them less of a man.

They are working hard to turn things around. I think the Mandaar track is being seen as an anomaly, otherwise they rarely miss their mark on this show.

Ghar Jamai might be ok and might get respect but if the man is free loading on them then it becomes derogatory???

But still indian conservative system makes the Ghar Jamai derogatory because they think ladka will only be ghar jamai when he don't earn enough???

Thank you for reply. Though Sunny deserves all the insults thrown at him, this question is not only about him.

I have seen many men who at the times of distress take shelter at their in laws and are ridiculed for it. In our society a woman living at her husband's and a man living at his wife's are seen in totally different lights. I have seen many good men being disrespected for it.

In my opinion Freeloading is many times generalized. A man can lose his job and have difficulty in getting a new one. Will his dependence on his in laws come under freeloading? Also many a times freeloader do lot of mundane tasks which actually helps the household to run smoothly. So I think somewhere the society is biased and still has a long way to go in accepting men who can't work a job and earn money.

None of the above arguements apply to people like Sunny.😆
