What happens after one wins a reality talent show?

If you are Ruprekha Banerjee, you sign on for another! Ruprekha who won Fame Gurukul along with Qazi Touqeer in 2005, now appears on another reality show, Joh Jeeta Wohi Superstar. "Life certainly changes after being on a reality show.

For one, you are no longer just another face, an anonymous girl who sings well. Also for any middle class person who comes to Mumbai, getting a start, a roof over one's head is a tedious process. Winning the contest made sure that all of that was taken care of for me," says Ruprekha. She goes on to add, "I am not saying that my struggle is over. But there has been a difference in the sense that when I go to music directors, they recognise who I am. Financially, I am also more secure. I have bought a house and a car."

And she has also been enjoying life: "I do music shows and I concentrate on being happy and content." What changes has she seen in herself after being exposed to showbiz? "Before I won Fame Gurukul, I had never been a part of something so big. Being in touch with celebrities, in close contact with them has made me more polished as an individual. There has been a makeover in terms of my appearance and wardrobe too but that is needed as we are constantly on television and giving public appearances," justifies Ruprekha.
At the end of the day, however, says Ruprekha, "I am still the girl next door. I am accessible, friendly and warm. I know my manners and my roots. And I am aware of the fact that I have a long way to go."
