I think the disconnect FD is having is that we, even as Pallavi's fans, cannot disregard what she did. Abuse is abuse. It is not so subjective as some other topics that have been discussed in the MF. We can't call it anything but that. And then those who are having issues with P today, who I also assume are largely Raghav's fans, can't forget that he almost slapped her - twice now, he tied her to a chair and almost killed her, he's grabbed her forcefully, once to even leave a bruise, etc. etc. etc. If P could forgive him for all of that, R, who seems to not even care, and even borderline like, what she did, why is anyone arguing on behalf of him?

Abuse, as we know it, is not seen that way in the show and that's what we need to remember.

WE are not the characters. In their show universe - as you said - it's acceptable. So many things are more acceptable than they would be IRL. IRL I don't think a woman such as Pallavi would ever fall that quickly in love with a man like Raghav. I don't think she would've truly moved past all that he did to her. IRL it's NOT ok that Raghav slapped his sister, even if we all hate her. IRL A LOT of the show would not fly. Including Raghav raising his hands at Pallavi twice in anger, and Pallavi hitting him twice with an object.

Although I've said countless times we all connect/disconnect with the show based our own IRL experiences that shape who we are, we cannot hold the characters accountable for what is normal in their show.

If we cannot accept what a character themselves are ok with/ have no issue with, then it's best to move on from the show. After now watching two shows where women beating men with a stick/object was viewed as ok in the show, I've realized this could be more of a culturally acceptable thing. SO, for me to make an issue of it bc I'm uncomfortable with it, there's just no point. I can't change the culture, I'm not even really a part of it. If I don't like it, I simply won't watch.

Yep, thanks for spelling this out so well. I just woke up and words aren't coming easy right now.

I acknowledge my bias, especially here on the AT- I love Raghav, and I love RaghVi, but I can't love them the way I love Pallavi. She's the reason I started watching the show, and she's the story I'm invested in. But my love for Pallavi can't make me put aside my IRL beliefs, which are that a spouse shouldn't hit another, plain and simple.

But there's a suspension of disbelief required when you watch ITV, I think. It's kind of like when you watch a Marvel movie, you're like, okay, well in this world, norse gods exist and magic is real and time travel is possible. So when you watch ITV, you have to be like, well, this is a world where things are a different way. At least, that's how I do it, else nothing on ITV will ever be watchable.

IRL, Pallavi should have PTSD from the truck incident. IRL, she should never have fallen for Raghav. IRL, she would never have forgiven Jaya. IRL, Nikhil won't be off in Bangalore when his brother came back from the dead.

But I still do wish they'd stop making jokes about things which aren't joking matters- they learnt their lesson on the distasteful maa da laadla track, and they should now learn is regarding violence.

Aww I love it Ashi. The first episode of Raghav walking into the lonely mansion - dang it was shot perfect, the dark, cold mansion devoid of any warmth. And now to see the house becoming a home. In today's episode also Amma saying that she wants her son and DIL back home and she doesn't want to stay alone - yes RR Mansion is now a home.

It was much of a relief episode today after what we've been getting since the past two days. It had it's own ups and downs but what i loved the most is that the story is finally moving forward from just romance and pranks.

I am glad Pallavi voiced out how she felt about Raghav's silly games and plans amidst all the torture that she's been facing ; physically and emotionally.

Thank goodness they cleared the bit where she accepted to have felt something when she saw and touched Swapnil but brushed it off because she had a belief that her husband will always keep her on the same page as his and they won't have any secret plans.

Pallavi hitting Raghav was ok ok. A bit funny but i was actually not soo indulged into it because i agree that the women was frustrated for God's sake. She was tired of every men playing a game with her in her life.

Raghav almost slapping Pallavi had it for me but i brushed it because sometimes even listening to the person you love the most in this world talk about death brings out the fear, so not banging my head on it much.

But please let me talk about that cheek kiss and that KISS Raghav wanted to have. He looked so cute when he got rejected for it. Poor guy was soo ready but alas his kismat and timing ain't good.

I loved the fact that Pallavi literally pushed him towards his office work talking about how important it is than the fiasco at home. Shows how much she cares about his hard work. And also a huge SLAP on those Ammas who were saying that Pallavi does not care about Raghav's business while he is loosing everything for her and blah blah. Face the truth now.

Hmm so I had a problem with the scene and so did a few others but I assure you I am not a Raghav fan and neither a Pallavi fan. Raghav was definitely abusive. But the show highlighted his abuse as abuse(obviously some people found it hot because Raghav is good looking and this it TV but makers didn’t show that) while Pallavi doing it was shown as comedy. This is why I feel like it was not ok. Male victims of DV are not properly recognized by law and are laughed at by society so it seems a bit insensitive.

However I understand that we need to separate Tv from IRL because they will never be close. Fiction should be taken as fiction and then left there. Not all shows need to have morals. I only believe in protesting because people watching the show may be influenced by such behavior(Case in point- an Indian man accused of stalking a woman in Australia said he was influenced by Hindi movies and his case was dismissed) This is why I speak on the forum and hope that people see the other side of the story.

BTW even Raghav raising his hand on Pallavi was wrong, even if it was done out of ‘love’.

No, the random girl who was hitting on him in the 2nd episode and later ended up drugging him to make an mms of his.

people want Anjali back because apparently playboy Raghav was hot.

They want Raghav to divorce Pallavi, make her miserable and get back to being a playboy again.

funny.

I caught up with the discussion on EDT Adu, I think you made some great points and I 💯 agree. I'd have jumped in, but I don't engage on EDT anymore, so I'm glad you're here and I can say it 😆
