Hola Pretty people... so this post is about Raghav, some concerns over his portrayal and things that don't fall in place with his character.

Caution: Healthy discussion is welcome, haters may avoid!

So it's been a couple of days that Ren, I and a bunch of our friends have been pondering over the inconsistencies that is seeping into Raghav's characters over the past few days. But today we had a trigger point with Sulo ogling over him.

Objectification of man or woman doesn't matter is always bad. And there have been too many scenes where shirtless Raghav makes an appearance which doesn't fit into the context. Shirtless Raghav while Pallavi comes in to meet is fine, that's how he's sleeps in his home. So it was fine but later that towel scene (he could have been in a bathrobe) or for that matter today in D house it was so not needed.

Sulo, a middle aged woman, mother of two grown up daughters, ogling a man fit to be her son's age. Sorry that's not what I don't think we can call funny. We feel creeped out when Mandar ogles at Pallavi, then why Sulo ogling at Raghav's naked torso is anything but crass! I don't even want to ask how would we react if there was a gender reversal there.

Some of us have complained about Pallavi not recognizing Raghav by his touch today. But is it in Raghav's character to dream about Pallavi when she is at danger in D house? I loved that scene too no doubt. Their chemistry is apt, its the USP of the show and we know need it for TRPs. But just to put things into perspective, this guy was so frustrated that he was brandishing a gun, punched Farhad and Amma had to fire a shot in air to make him even listen to her. And the next morning we find him day dreaming. He was so nonchalant unlike the Raghav who woke up from a nightmare after Mandar give him that stupid challenge.

Pallavi here had taken a risky chance when she sneaked out. If at all anyone would have found out about her escapade, she would have landed in a danger and Raghav wouldn't even know. Yet he was day dreaming about her like wifey has gone out for a vacation! Should I say he loves Pallavi less? Ofcourse not! It was the fault of the script and I wish they had incorporated the scene in a much better way.

When he made this heroic entry in D house, I was expecting him to be more focused. He has entered a war zone after all. The aarti scene, the determined look on his face and the Tanaji background music accentuating the impact.

There I thought, when he was all by himself, he would ponder about the fire scare that burnt his hand and could have harmed Pallavi. But instead we saw him pondering over Pallavi not recognizing him. I missed that sharp focus of Raghav Rao here again.

Raghav has always been a no nonsense person. How he tackled Keerti while she asked for her happiness as a Rakhi gift was amazing. The toilet scene where Pallavi was acting stupid but Raghav was in charge of the situation was apt. Because that's how they are. He is in control and she is goofy. These things add depth to their characters and their portrayal.

I hope in desperation to add some comic relief with sprinklers of romance with a tadka of shirtless Rao... the makers don't take away these small nuances from the characters that sets them apart.

Hello everyone,

As Sonia rightly pointed out, we have been observing few problematic aspects of the show since the past week when she and I started discussing MHRW so thought of penning our views for the benefit of the larger forum members. Feel free to agree, disagree, discuss but don't bash. We will not indulge in responding or reacting to hate comments.

While I absolutely love this show to bits and on most days appreciate everything the makers, cast and crew put out there for our viewing, some important points need to be highlighted, lest it gets brushed under the rug.

First and foremost, if you'll keenly observe, in most episodes you will see a shirtless scene of Raghav. I can cite examples from recent episodes but you all know the scenes in question.

While an in context shirtless scene makes sense (we have been shown a shirtless Raghav doing exercises or roaming around in his room), showing such scenes excessively is going a bit overboard in my opinion. It may be done for the Trp audience or for the online fandom but this comes across as borderline objectifying the male lead. This is a problem across ITV and not just our show. I wish this stops (MHRW beings an iconic show and not a run of the mill, the expectations are high), unless required contextually. We love Raghav equally (if not more) in his business suits.

Secondly, today's scene of BWA oogling at Swapnil who's old enough to be her son was in such bad taste. The background music of dirty picture and her saying hot did not make the scene funny. Again, if gender roles were reversed this would be pretty creepy. When Mandar stares at Pallavi it is creepy, same way, BWA staring at Raghav/ Swapnil shirtless is plain creepy. Her own daughter was shocked at her behaviour today.

Thirdly, there are so many inconsistencies in Raghav's character that I can't understand what the makers are even thinking. This guy who is the don of Hyderabad is nicely sleeping in his double bed dreaming of his wife (who btw told him last evening how dangerous Mandar is and how he has emotionally and mentally tortured her and killed people in his obsession for her). While I loved the romantic scene and even saw it multiple times, it was so out of character that Raghav who was so angry the earlier evening (all guns ablaze) would sleep so peacefully. It is strange that people call out how Pallavi loves him less but when she was afforded the opportunity, she came to the RR mansion to meet Raghav (mind you this meeting was within 24 hours of their earlier garden meeting). This was a risky move specially considering Keerti the mole lives there but she did it out of love for her Ghamandi Rao.

Lastly, while Raghav saved Pallavi from the fire and installed microphones in the D house, he's more bothered about why Pallavi didn't recognise him. They are in a battlefield, the stakes are so high, this should be the least of his worries. He had a good opportunity in the kitchen to tell her he's Raghav instead trying to rile her up because he loves her fiery mode. This was not how Raghav would react. We saw him tackle lion before, we saw how he trashed the goon who kidnapped Pallavi on Mansi ka Sangeet night.

Also, those who feel that Pallavi should recognise him from his smell, touch and physique, coz he is her husband, I'm sorry to say it doesn't happen in real life. If Pallavi did recognise him I would say that his disguise wasn't as good as he expected.

Another point, Raghav has only recognised her by smell of her shampoo so there's no guarantee that if Pallavi is in disguise, he'd be able to recognise her (those shampoo smells are quite common).

Lastly, none of these things actually prove who loves the other more or who is deeper in this relationship. Raghvi both love each other equally and are equally invested in the relationship. Both have made mistakes, both have repented and moved on, high time the audience does too!!!

TLDR: I love MHRW, Raghvi equally

I have always said this that a man and woman are no different when it comes to emotions and characters

The way objectification or harassment of a woman is a punishable offence is condemned with

It should be done for men as well

Because unfortunately that has been in a rise in today’s world

And I have seen it happen in front of me in my professional world

Sulo, a middle aged woman, mother of two grown up daughters, ogling a man fit to be her son's age. Sorry that's not what I don't think we can call funny. Even I didn’t find that funny

To me it was extremely cringe worthy

And again raises the question I always ask

Why objectify a person by his/her physique?

Like a person who is healthy is always shown to be eating

It’s not how the real world works

There are n number of dynamics into play

I just hope people understand before it’s late

I am not sure how our brain functions when not being completely conscious

Because sleep is I think a state where we are in between the state of our conscious mind slowly drifting to subconscious and unconscious mind

The doctors in our forum would be able to tell us more about it

This I think was exclusively because he was excited to tell her that see as promised your Ghamandi Rao is here

But you didn’t recognise him and welcome him

Having said above whatever I did

I am not supporting Raghav neither am I disrespecting Pallavi or your opinion for that matter

I just tried to understand why he did what they did

And certainly don’t mean to offend you by any means ā¤ļø

Hiii Soni. Thanks for the tag. I am going to give my opinion on all the points you have made.

Don’t mind a shirtless Raghav in his personal space, it’s his choice.

But I agree with the objectification part- had it been a woman being ogled at and fantasied about like that, we wouldn’t like it at all. So why don’t we spare the similar courtesy to men? Today’s scene was uncomfortable to watch for many. It wasn’t funny at all.

About the inconsistencies that you have mentioned- I see where you are coming from and there have been many inconsistencies in the past as well- but I have chosen to look over it everytime and I could do it this time as well. I can just speak for myself- I like to watch the show the way it is presented by the writers - if they want to sell me this, they can try. The day it will get too illogical I might lose interest. But till now I can do with it just fine, so it’s alright. I don’t indulge myself in what could have been, rather try to make sense of what is. That’s how I have survived with the show. Just for the sake of RaghVi, who I love with all my heart. So I really didn’t have any complain from Raghav today.

And he was just sleeping after Amma had persuaded him to stay calm, and I guess it’s alright. It made sense. He listens to Amma and moreover it was about Pallavi, there can be momentarily rage but he wouldn’t want to spoil everything. And while he was sleeping- aa gyi Pallavi uske dream mein. It’s okay. It’s cute šŸ˜†ā¤ļø

First thing first, I don’t see how this post is siding Pallavi because portrayal of Raghav has nothing to do with Pallavi.

to be continued…

Yeah this is what I thought. Being single I would compare the familiarity to family. Even though we are around our family constantly, I probably can't recognise them by anythings other than face or voice. However since I have not dated or been in a romantic relationship, I do not know how different it is. Can anyone who is dating/married clarify whether this is true? Not just one person ofc, because marriages and couples are different.

Apart from the quoted part, completely agree on the casual objectification of men on ITV which I believe some actors have spoken about. Also the disrespect to lgbtq with maa da ladla sequence and Raghav saying double track/aisa vaisa with the whole thing being played off for laughs

Raghav has no reservations about being shirtless; he sleeps shirtless, keeps few buttons of his shirt open, and so on.

So that's fine, that's how his character was written, but they went far with the Sulochana being attracted towards Swapnil concept today.

Comments like "hot chai" and the OTT lustful looks she was giving were unnecessary in my opinion; it wasn't funny.

Image

Imagine old man looking at girl enough to be his daughter like this 🤪.

Concept of Raghav using (direct/indirect) support of Deshmukh ladies against Mandaar was good but execution is clearly failing here šŸ‘ŽšŸ¼.

Mansi and Sulochana getting impressed by Swapnil , his personality and career history was fine but today her ogling his body for most part of episode was crass 🤢.

Raghav dreaming about Pallavi -

My interpretation- makers wanted to illustrate that Pallavi gives him solace, which is why he enjoys a good night's sleep these days as she visits him in his dreams.

He got a good night's sleep last time he was troubled (Vat savitri ) as he slept on her waist, and this time it was her dreams making up for Pallavi’s void.

But I’m disheartened by his behaviour today šŸ¤”

Even Rama clearly told Raghav to tell Pallavi they’re here but Raghav didn’t do it ,because he was enjoying irritated Pallavi ? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

Pallavi constantly lives under fear and stress these days and recently experienced fright due to fire incident so she’ll obviously take time to process Swapnil’s presence.

Raghav could have also simply used code ILU when they were in kitchen . But he didn’t ?

(I have seen lot of criticism over Pallavi using or not using code language / verbally or non verbally expressing her love , didn’t see a thread on this today so saying it here šŸ˜†)

Why is Raghav wasting time to see if Pallavi recognises him ?

Can’t he simply inform her !

Time is of essence, isn’t it ?

I personally won’t question his love for her, because unlike some I watch MHRW , love Raghvi and

I know Raghav and Pallavi love each other a lot .

Writers are failing to show it properly in their attempt to add other elements and such inconsistencies are disheartening!

Its not about being single or in a relationship/ marriage, it's funny to assume that you can always smell or touch people and recognise them. Voice is a different matter altogether and that is why Swapnil can't speak..

You know the LTBTQ offensive sections are deleted from hotstar so the makers rectified their mistakes. This casual objectification should stop on ITv. It's neither HOT nor is it funny.

Thanks for the reply.
