The only actress who openly talked pay gap was Anushka. As far as I know none of the actresses ever rejected any movie in the name of pay gap. Few years ago actresses weren’t even in a position to speak. If it wasn’t her fight before then it is her fight now as she can afford it.

She can ask for anything that she wants. And it's up to the producers if they want to pay her that or move on and find someone else.

With that said, I don't even think she's asking anything close to that. She is definitely not at any career high like this article claims. Her last film was a huge flop and had dismal opening numbers. She also got involved in a drug scandal with her "maal hai kya" stuff. It's precisely why she would do so much PR and plant articles about how great things are for her right now. Fake it til you make it.

Her strategy after the Chaapak disaster and the drug scandal would have been to reduce her rates so that she can quickly sign a lot of big films to get back in the game.

When RK was going from flop to flop he was still paid 40CR per movie 40. Nobody then questioned how he can command such astronomical fees to work on movie like Tamasha. Akshay Kumar charge half of movie budget when his films struggle to even get hit status because his fees shot the budget high. We are talking 80cr-100cr. It’s only problem if an actress ask even 5% of it that’s when everyone start asking “what’s your pull? What’s your last opening? What’s your lifetime?”

Deepika believes she is worth this and she is selling herself as such. It can be delusional, it can be insanity but if you go to a supermarket there are multiple choices and if the price of one does not suit you then move on to the next. Whoever is interested in paying her will pay.

I'm "worked up" over this because I don't like her acting as if she was advocating pay equality when she benefited from taking up the roles actresses had to let go because then wanted an higher salary ?

Had she aligned with them then, she wouldn't have to advertise it so much as most of the leg work would have already been done.

Anushka wasn't the only actress who talked about pay gap and even though other actresses weren't as vocal some of them did let go of some roles because of the salary.

Also I wasn't aware that Deepika's filmography was only made of RL and Piku.

I don't care how much she asks but girl you're in the talking stage,do you need to advertise your demands? If the salary is too little then let go and leave the role to a junior actress. Work with people who will give you what you think you're worth.

Yes and did his fees drop at all after these 3 back to back flops? No it didn’t. He command 40 cr whether he aligns 3 flops in the row or a hit. So this cannot be the justification especially if people are offended by an actress asking maximum just half of that.
