Somnath : the backdrop

Somnath has been backdrop of Pandya universe & thought let’s share bit more about it.

The story, the history, the plunder & reconstruction, the locals who fought for it to save from afghan invaders... fascinating History (not myth/mythology as ITV usually refers) and cultural influences.

Somnath temple is located in town called veraval near Triveni sangam of Prabhas Patan. Scenic seaside place, in kathiyawad region.

People here have historically been known to be fighters , ones who wouldn’t give up.

One such fighter Gujarat students learn about in history is : Hamirji Gohil.

(Unfortunately we donot Learn of regional history across the states, for example Gujaratis won’t know who Raja Raja chola was.)

Somnath is located just about an hour away from Gir - the lion sanctuary.

Hope Someday the team of PS can travel to actual Somnath for small shoot.

This is worthwhile information about Somnath. I knew only about the Temple and when I looked at the map to find out where it is located, found out that Gir NP is located closer to it. Just like you said, would love for PS team to go back snd shoot some scenes or tracks there. They did shoot some of preleap scenes in the beginning of the show.
