We say a lot for Parakshita, but can we please talk about our man Rajat and how great he is on and off-screen?
Pehle to as Kartik, this man is so amazing! The supportive, non-toxic, non gaslighting, non-mansplaining male character who literally has no issues. He just wants to see his bhai and bhaabhi happy. Literally no selfish bone in his body (other than when it comes to his family, then he becomes a protective bhai). A huge HUGE kudos to the writing team for the character of Kartik being unproblematic af (also, cute, but that's a Rajat thing I guess š) Many times, male characters (leads or supports) tend to look at things from a one-dimensional perspective- the male one. But with Kartik's character, a very valiant, and successful attempt was made to have a man understand and support a woman's perspective, that too openly, going against the traditional dadi. His quick acceptance of Savitri as his taiji and him just knowing that Ishqi would never do anything that would knowingly bring harm to the family, when even her husband (albiet manipulated by dadi) could not. He has seen time and time again that Ishqi always stands with the right thing and he trusts her even now. He tries to see both perspectives and honestly it's so refreshing.
Then, can we talk about just how awesome Rajat is? And his bond with Akshita? (Someone give me an MV with these two!!! Ab to Rajat ne bhi keh diya! Ab toh koi de do!) But seriously, with all the sadness we could feel permeating the vlogs and throughout the fd over the last few weeks, him in the vlogs was literally like a ray of sunshine (even with Akshita there). Har baar I saw him on-screen in the vlogs, mera humesha ek hi comment tha (especially during the wrap party) and that was "iska sahi chal raha hai. Isk pakdo š". And can we PLEASE talk about this cake holi? Bhai ko cake holi khelne ka alag hi shauk hai yaar, har baar koi na koi victim to mil hi jaata hai, aur vo usually Akshita hi hoti hai. Par wrap party pe toh bhaisahab ne kya tabaahi machayi hai, OML. The only one to have escaped unscathed was Param (aur unka number to ab laakar rehna hai. Koi jugaad karo yaar. Unfair that he's the only one left out of this full cake potho-ing tradition š)
Bas, that's the post. Just A LOT of love and appreciation for Rajat and for Kartik as a character. And I seriously hope in S2 we get to see Ishqi being an awesome bhabhi and bringing home a wife for our boy, like she said she would. But meanwhile, I really, really, REALLY want to see Kartik vs Rhea. Yeh toh alag hi level ki takkar hogi, aur meujhe toh bohot mazaa aayega (with popcorn)šš½šš½
Honestly, I could get on a soapbox about this and never come down (kya karun yaar, psychoanalyzing ab toh automatic response hai lol). But feel free to add on!
