Names like Aurangzeb, Taimur, and Jehangir are absolutely well-suited names in countries other than India. It's almost equivalent to naming someone after Hitler in Israel and the USA or Europe

These Kings have harmed and killed people and destroyed hundreds of temples. They remind the Indian population of the atrocities which were done by these Moghul Kings on their country's people.

To understand this sentiment, one has to be an Indian citizen or should have grown up in India. Indians don't have any issue with the Muslims or their names, it's certain and specific names. We are used to Muslim names, we have Muslim friends, Muslim family members too, inter-religious marriages are also legal. When a person lives in a Secular country one is expected to be sensitive to all communities unlike countries with one uniform religion.

I understand it's hard for some IF members to relate to this, but it is what it is. Kareena and Saif have selected names they have liked and loved them. As parents, they have a right to do so, at the same time they have shown their fans and people how indifferent they are. And not to worry, this trolling as some like to call it will also stop after a while.

I don't expect Indian Forum members from other countries to understand or relate to this, but things are not as simple in India as it is in other countries. The least people can do is be civil to each other's posts.

No offense meant to any Religion, Community, Country, or any of the fans.

@ Red ....exactly this....I can't say about others....but I generally wouldn't interfere in what people do in their personal lives and how they have freedom to do that....but if you have other options why would you offend a bunch of people......for example ....I am a Hindu and I was very very offended when that ba stard painted nude pics of our Goddesses.....and was equally frustrated when some other ba stards started the movement to paint ALLAH when its not allowed in Islam....my thing is why would anyone with a little bit of common sense and sensibility do these things even if they have the freedom to do so.....there are a million other ways to entertain yourself.....just because you live in a free country....you will try to offend a whole bunch of people??....Yes you can name your son after an oppressive king...or paint Allah or draw nude Hindu Goddesses.....because you are free....but don't expect people to not react...that is all.

Your reaction (generic you) ends where my nose begins. And that includes cyberbullying. It definitely includes anything physical or material.

PS. Jehangir is not considered a tyrant like Taimur. It's like saying a Hindu couple shouldn't name their kid Shivaji because he also committed atrocities in the name of expansion. Seeing the reaction to the kid's name, reasonable conclusion is that people would've objected to any darned Muslim name. Not talking about you. Didn't the other thread discuss why the kid couldn't be given Hindu or Christian names after Kareena's origins? Parents can name their kid what they want. They don't have to satisfy equity, diversity, inclusion criteria. 😆

No ...I will never endorse bullying of any kind...cyber or in person.....I was just reacting to the TM calling us snowflakes...😆....is that bullying? nah...its just the TM's frustration ....I was talking about the frustrations....all reaction doesn't have o be about bullying...civil and sensible people know where to draw the line...if someone doesn't know how to give a civilized reaction to something they don't like....well that would be their problem....not mine...😛

@ blue....of course they don't just like painters can draw anything be it nude Goddesses or paint Allah....like I said the insensitive ones can do anything...no one has to satisfy anyone..

Sure but then they had best stay away from giving other people lectures about liberalism, feminism, diversity, inclusion and all that jazz which both Saif and Kareena have done in the past. The way they named their kids is none of the things these people claim to be. Since they're public figures, people definitely will talk and troll them.

My cousin married a Christian white man and named her son James. The wedding has more Irish culture than desi; she wore a white dress. Is this oppression? No, it was her choice. She didn't care much about certain things and he may have.

I'm sure if Kareena cared about hindu or Christian names, she would have had a say. Everything about her marriage appears to be flexible. The timing of marriage was her decision, when to have kids was also when she was ready. Having 2 children was mentioned by Kareena years ago in any interview, whereas Saif already had 2 kids and didn't seem to care for more.
Maybe she just doesn't care much for names being from a particular religion whereas Saif does?

Actually, they are Indians first and then Hindus.

Obviously they are Indians and should remain so, religion shouldn't come at all but here the person I quoted was giving example of religion. Hence the similar kind of response.

It makes SAK and KKK hypocrites if Kareena wanted other names and Saif didn't agree.

1. No one knows Kareena didn't want Jehangir, do they? She is superficial enough to brag it is an emperor's name. So where does EDI come in?

2. Even if she did, and they're hypocrites, it still doesn't make Jehangir an insensitive name in any way more than say, Ashoka (who did plenty of atrocities) or Karan (after a sex assaulter from the epics).

3. And yeah, that makes the trolls wrong because it seems thinly veiled Islamophobia.

4. Also, take the trolling a notch up, you have Karni Sena (though SLB could well have invited it for publicity).

that name sucks. It's so medieval and primitive sounding, right out of some madrassa.😃 Even the original Jahangir's mother would not name him Jahangir in today's era. That kid should sue kareena and chota height nawab when he grows up🤪
