Simply put, yes.

1. because most of those flops weren't billed as her movies (except Chapak).

2. because, fair or not, she got credit for most her hits.

So yeah, bona fide star.

Most of the female stars used to follow the Akshay Kumar method. They make so many movies that even having 10 flops wouldn’t matter because the next movie would be right around the corner so attention could be easily diverted.
It was when Deepika started asking for too much money that movies dried up and she lost that carefully created starry PR image. Chhapak and xXx did a whole lot of damage. She’s also a liability after the “maal hai kya” stuff. I guarantee she must have reduced her asking amount but is spreading all these pay parity articles to pretend like nothing has changed.
