She had a cameo in Pink Panther 2. Mistress of Spices is not a Hollywood movie. It is a British movie directed by an Indian-British director and has no connection to Hollywood. But Aishwarya and her PR have always marketed it as a Hollywood movie.

She was the no.1 actress of the 2000s, there's no disputing that. She had the hits and the popularity. She ruled the roost despite the ill-treatment meted out to her by the Khans.

Known for beauty etc. is a matter of subjective opinion. But one cannot deny the sheer cultural impact she created in Bollywood and in South cinema.

OT, she couldn't make it big due to her own limitations: no nudity, no kissing scenes, sex scenes etc. She refused to shift base to LA and wanted to continue working out of Mumbai. She refused to give up Indian cinema and wanted to balance both. Result: It was a half-assed effort and obviously that didn't get results.

She had the likes of Will Smith and Brad Pitt dying to work with her and she let those opportunities pass. If she made even 10% of the effort of a Priyanka Chopra, she would definitely have been up there amongst the biggest crossover stars like Penelope Cruz.

She only did 5 English films. Out of them, Bride and Prejudice was successful, Provoked received critical acclaim, Pink Panther 2 was a moderate BO success. The other two got panned and were flops.

Having said that, she was the first Indian actor to have made waves globally, even if it was mostly for her beauty. She is the one to have made the maximum global impact with minimal efforts.

There's a lot of dispute about her being a number one actress. She was not the number one actress of any time. She has delivered more flops than hits. She was never a popular actress like Kajol, Karishma, Urmila, Rani, Priety, Kareena. The only year she was relevant as an actress was in 1999, 2002, and 2007....these are the years she was with Salman Khan and Bachchans who were giving her movies without knowing she was using them.

Ill-treatment by Khans? LMAO. Her fans don't even know her real story. She owes her career to Salman Khan who gave her 6-7 movies from 1999-2002. She was a flop actress before she started dating Salman. She had delivered 3 flops in Bollywood and 2 forgettable flops in South. No one was interested in giving her any movies. She was desperate to become a Bollywood star and did anything she could to make it big...including dating Salman for 4 years because it was beneficial to her. All her movies from 1999-2002 have a Salman connection as the actors, directors, and producers are all Salman friends like SLB, Ramesh Taurani, David Dhawan, Raj Kanwar, Atul Agnihotri. You should check her filmography to see that. And what did she do after using Salman to make her film career....she threw dirty allegations at him which have no proof. But she's Aishwarya, she is known for lying and using people.

Her only two hits are HDDCS and Devdas. She got both movies through Salman's friendship with Bhansali. HDDCS was hit because of Salman and Devdas because of Shahrukh. But of course Aishwarya took the credit for them just like she takes the credit for everything including things she hasn't done.

Bride and Prejudice, Mistress of Spices, Provoked are all low-budget British movies made by British-Indian directors Gurinder Chadha and her husband. All these movies were flops including Bride and Prejudice which was falsely hyped as a Hollywood movie and it ended up not even recovering her costs.

Do you really believe Brad Pitt and Will Smith were interested in working with her? Lol. She was not offered any Hollywood movies even though her agent tried selling her aggressively. Aishwarya made up stories like "I was being offered all big Hollywood movies, all the big Hollywood stars were dying to work with me but I refused them"...and the she came back to India and starred in classics like Umrao Jaan and Shabd. LOL!

Having said that, she was not the first Indian actor to make waves globally (even though she boldly claims she is). Persis Khambatta, Miss India Universe 1965, was the first Indian actress to act in a Hollywood movie and gained a lot of fame. Persis acted in 10+ Hollywoo movvies and is famous for playing Lieutenant Ilia in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979).

What limitations are you talking about? She kissed Vivek Oberoi in Kyun Ho Gaya Na, she did a French-kissing scene with Hrithik in Dhoom 2, she has done sex scenes in Shabd and Choker Bali. She wore skimpy outfits and danced with her father-in-law. What sheer cultural impact she created in Bollywood and in South cinema? Her two South movies are forgettable flops and her cultural impact in Bollywood is using men to advance her career.

It's like more than doing a movie, its soap operas that can help Indian actors reach western audience. It's good to know that she did two-three movies in Hollywood. She might not be getting good offers.

She did intimate scenes in her career. So that excuse does not work.

Because one needs to expose, do intimate scenes and plus ACT. She failed to do either 😆

@Bold: Absolutely! She had agreed to do Hancock with Will Smith after her wedding, but Teji Bachchan passed away and she thought she should support her husband and in-laws and not go away abroad for a year in their time of grief. The role was then lapped up by Charlize Theron.

Same with the way she took 5 years off from limelight after becoming a mother when other actresses weren't following this trend.

It's clear how she prioritized family over her career and it showed. I was pissed off with her for this reason a few years ago but kya karein, it's her life... she should do what she likes. Now that I am older, I am more understanding of her decisions.

Regarding PC, I don't know. She isn't doing any stellar work career wise. She did better work when she was working here. She hasn't produced any good work since Bajirao Mastani and that was six years ago. But yes, it's clear that her priorities are more towards "global domination," a phrase which she repeatedly utters, and not so much a family life.

She was never offered Hancock with Will Smith or any other good Hollywood movie. But quite smart of her to create a story of giving up her Hollywood work because her husband's grandmother passed away. What support did she offer by staying back? All she did was going everywhere with Amitabh calling herself Mrs. Bachchan by pushing Jaya aside and taking her place. She was busy dancing in concerts abroad when her father was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. It would have been good if she had stayed back and offered some support to her father.

Her Hollywood agent had to beg for a cameo for her in B-grade Pink Panther 2. She was so bad that the makers didn't even feature her in the trailer.

There's a trend of staying away from limelight after becoming a mother? Lol. Why don't you clearly mention that she was away from movies for 5 years because she had no offers. She traveled all over the world for her brand endorsements. But no one offered her any movies because she's a has-been. Her acting skills are poor and her makeup-dependent beauty is not appealing anymore on big screen. She waited 5 years for someone to offer her a movie but no one did and she had to pay legendary director Sanjay Gupta to make a Hollywood level action thriller Jazbaa for her. She was so desperate to comeback that she didn't charge any fee to work in Jazbaa.

It's clear that Aishwarya has prioritized her career over her family. For the first four years of her marriage, she was busy cashing on Bachchan surname as much as she could. She focused on brand endorsements, doing ads, doing photoshoots and interviews, working in movies, doing concerts, attending every event and party in town. At the age of 40, she decided to gave birth to a child which she has been raising with her mother. She has been dragging her daughter all over the world for her career. Her daughter scarifies her childhood so mommy can continue her career. She refused to have more kids because she wants to focus on her cosmetics-selling job. It's her life and she does whatever she likes with no regard for others. Everything is about her, her parents, and her daughter. Her husband and in-laws have no place in her life.

Priyanka is doing stellar work that no one has done before. Priyanka is where Aishwarya desperately tried to be but lacked the talent. Priyanka has authored a book, opened a restaurant, she has launched her own haircare line. Priyanka has opened a production house and she has become a successful producer...she has produced 3 movies and one of her films 'Ventilator' won a National Award. Priyanka has produced a Hollywood movie that was nominated for Oscars. She has signed a two-year multimillion-dollar first-look television deal with Amazon. She is also shooting for "The Matrix 4". Aishwarya has been talking about doing a cameo in a South movie for four years. Let's wait for another flop from her lol.

Priyanka has a good family life. Aishwarya had a kid 4 years after marriage, so Priyanka will have kids when she is ready to have kids.

I didn't watch it fortunately, but I remember Aishwarya dragged the entire family (i.e. Abhishek and her in-laws) to the premiere. If her role was just a cameo, that is pretty embarrassing.

Wrong my Lord. Don’t agree with this statement:

“She was the no.1 actress of the 2000s, there's no disputing that. She had the hits and the popularity. She ruled the roost despite the ill-treatment meted out to her by the Khans.”

Your mannequin only had a cameo in Mohabbatein and three hits in Devdas, Guru, and the overrated Dhoom 2. Jodhaa Akbar was a semi-hit. Rani was number one. 🤣

The intimate scenes in Shabd looks like child’s play compared to movies like Troy. If you can’t differentiate between Sanjay rubbing his nose against Aishwarya Rai’s face/neck and Brad Pitt being butt-naked on top of the actress, then you need to revaluate your definition of intimate. 😂
