I can almost certainly say there will be no Parakshita on our screens for the next couple of years at least.

Zero chance on TV; smaller chances for a web series.

In this era of hate/forced marriages on TV, my three current ships haven't been too bad

Ishqaan- no forced marriage

Pranbir- no forced marriage (a very nice ship in an otherwise thoroughly messed up serial; the guy's characterisation here has been really, really good, and there are practically no MU's between the leads. If any, they get resolved fast)

RaghVi- forced marriage, but their post-marriage has perhaps been as normal as you'd get in an semi-arranged marriage. Marriage promo suggested that wife would "tabaahfy" hubby, but nothing like it so far.

You watch MehendiHRW? I catch up on and off because a friend of mine watches. Haven't seen the original version so it's nice to know the story. Is it just me though, or does the show have a very early 2000-ish feel to it? The makeup, OTT bg music and the dialogues remind me of those Ramola Sikand type Ekta shows with badi bindi and geometrically shaped sindoor 😆

I like how authentic their casting is though, at least for the leads. I know ITV doesn't have many options to have an inclusive cast but I've never been a fan of people playing characters belonging to certain regions (Ekta's typical fascination with Punjabi, Bengali, Tamilian, to name a few) and then saying the regional dialects/languages all wrong It kills the mood for me. At least with the character of Raghav, broken Hindi feels authentic.

RED: I fear that too. It's unlikely, especially nowadays, to repeat a pair. Pehle phir bhi Ekta would often do that but I haven't seen this happen for other ITV shows (except for KRP maybe). 🥺

Was at the forefront of the first campaign, and is mustering up the strength for another!

Respect!

Yeah, she is very encouraging. Not easy for her either but she has been cheering me up with her tweets and DMs all along ❤️

The moment Arpit sat on that chair and started rocking like he's some 70s don, I stopped listening to him.

My memory of the show isn't that strong, but I think she would've been happier with Osama- I know she rejected his proposal. Zaroon barely adjusted for her- IMO, Osama would have.

Men rarely have to make that many adjustments 😆

Girls life change more after marriage. I wonder if all of it is really sexism.. men and women are also made differently I feel.. (not to generalise, everyone is different..But I’m assuming most )

Kashaf’s mom trained her that way too- cook for your husband; she says she isn’t even that good a cook , mom tells her that men get used to the taste and associate with their wives ( it’s kind of sexist but there is a certain amount of wisdom and truth in her words). When kashaf he misses her but is also miserable because his ghar becomes a makaan without her and he can’t get anything right.

Kashaf needed care, support and protection from her husband which Zaroon provided. Because of her father’s minimal role in her life.. she didn’t have a male figure in her life… zaroon as a pillar of strength made her see the protection and care a man can also provide.

(She cries when he gives her money; koi mere baare main bhi aise sochega.. she agreed to marry him because of this very reason.. his hand got burnt but didn’t let the tea spill on her).

Maybe it’s not about adjustment but what you can provide to your spouse in terms of what they need in their lives.. it can be different for everyone.

Ouch, then your standards are already set and I doubt any other previous Gul shows will appeal to you as much😆. Although, if you ever have time and you want to, you can give Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon a try. I've said time and again that there are things in that series that I don't agree with but it was Gul's first proper hit series, that too on Star with so much competition. People from ALL over the world were crazy about the pair. Also, Lalit Mohan was there in the direction team and the scenes are aesthetically very very pleasing IMO.

It also gave rise to countless memes and gifs which both IPK and non-IPK fans use 😆 And Daadi plays Buaaji (FL's aunt) and it's a treat to see her there.

You know, the guy who was the main villain in the show for the longest time used to get SO much hate off screen for his character too, like he legit got death threats and hate mails and his family was so worried about him😳😆

This is the only other hindi show i ever watched... though it was a dubbed version. I hated it.. I felt as if every other scene was of the ml manhandling the fl and the show passing it off as romantic. That was my first impression of the show and the reason why I did not continue watching.

With Ahaan.. I don't think he ever manhandled Ishqi or anyone.. post leap there was a scene or two and the most recent one where he was questioning her after being out during the day.. the difference I saw was that Ishqi seemed more triggered and the manhandling was shown as is and not made to look romantic. Ahaan/Karthik/Raj truly standout. Ahaan esoecially, the emotions and his character growth was so refreshing to watch. It seemed so real.

It would make me so mad back then but I see now what she meant, Kashaf for me is relatable as hell😆

My mom once gave me an example from the show. Her dad comes back when they are doing well and ignores her all her life as a kid. Her mom is like, “yeh toh duniya ka dastoor hai beta “ 😆

Which is a fact or life.

Anyways,. The problem with most Pak shows are they are patriarchal and sexist.

I liked dur e shawr too a lot (also called dhoop chaun) it’s a tale of 90% marriages in desi communities I feel, especially during the 90s and prior to that.
