London, Paris, New York was a movie released in 2012 starring Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari.
It's a movie inspired by/rip-off of Before trilogy.
It tells the story of Nikhil and Lalitha who meet at the London airport and instantly form a bond because of being Indians. Their discussion starts with politics and then they decide to explore London together.
Nikhil is an easy-going carefree guy who is going to join Film-school in London. Lalitha is an idealistic nerd who is going to New York to study Politics. They spent the entire day together and fall for each other. But Lalitha has to leave for New York the next day.
Nikhil tries to convince Lalitha that they could've a long distance relationship but according to her it isn't going to work out. Nikhil promises Lalitha that he would come to New York after three months and they kiss before saying goodbye.
Nikhil couldn't keep his promise due to some reason and even writes her letters to explain his situation. Lalitha didn't reply to any of his letters because she already formed a rule in their relationship, that they wouldn't try to contact each other with any long distance modes of communication.
She decides to go to London and meet Nikhil without informing him. She tracks down his address, enters his empty house and catches him with a girl in bed. Lalitha gets heartbroken and instantly leaves the house without Nikhil knowing that she ever came to meet him.
After three years Nikhil is still not over Lalitha. He decides to track her down and finds her in Paris. Lalitha upon meeting him is first angry with him for not coming to New York. He explains his problem and she pretends to forgive him, without telling him that she came to meet him in London and found him in bed with a girl. They again spend the entire day together and seems like everything is normal.
They have sex and then Lalitha reveals about her trip to London. Nikhil is shocked to find out that all this time Lalitha was manipulating him. He tries to convince her that he loves her and what she saw was just a one-night stand. But Lalitha wanted to get even with Nikhil by breaking his heart.
Kissing Nikhil was a big deal for her. She being from a middle class family expected Nikhil to be a one woman man. Seeing him in bed with another girl changed her alot. Having sex with him and then walking out was a way to get her revenge.
Again after four years Nikhil visits New York for his first film promotion and meet Lalitha who is now settled there. Lalitha is happy to see Nikhil. Over the years she became mature enough to realize what Nikhil did was natural and she overreacted. She apologized for her mistake and Nikhil again tries to reconcile with her, only to find out that Lalitha is about to get married the next day.
He convinces her to spend some time together like they did in London and Paris. Their old feelings resurface and they end up kissing. But after that kiss, Lalitha acts like nothing happened and is about to leave for her wedding. Nikhil had it enough and ends up venting out his anger and frustration on how Lalitha always controlled him.
Lalitha cancels her marriage and they finally end up together giving the movie a happy Bollywood ending. But do you think after what Lalitha did to Nikhil, she deserved him?
In the whole movie, she expected Nikhil to run behind her, to chase her but she didn't want to do anything like that for him. Once she chased him down to London to find him with a girl, she made a bad image of him in her mind. Like it was his fault that she made a rule to not contact her through phone or email. When he wrote her letters she didn't reply.
After all this she didn't expect him to move on. When again meeting in Paris, she manipulated him to land him in bed with her. Usually we hear about guys doing such stuff but here the girl did it. If this doesn't make her a jerk then I don't know what does.
Again in New York she kissed him and then acted like nothing happened. She always expected Nikhil to love him but didn't love her back in return. TBH she used him throughout the movie. Breaking her marriage was finally something she did to prove that she also loves Nikhil but it was nowhere near how much Nikhil loved her in return.
