If they chose a memory where they were like partners, like equals who solved a problem or overcame something.. any of such memories.. even the menstruation track would have been fine for me because those were instances where she was an equal, he treated her as an adult, she wasn't just this child he has to take care of.
The bed wetting incident is one which I felt where Ani was more of a protector, hero or just a man helping this child.
They chose bedwetting because she was locked inside a storage room for 7 hours, and she peed. He won't remember her as an advisor or friend if he sees a bottle of pee na? He'll be transported to the first phase of their journey only.
Based on one memory of something that happened in the first 50 episodes of the show, we can't eradicate their whole journey of 300+ episodes.

Yes, in the bed wetting incident, he was her protector and he had barely accepted her in his life even as a caretaker. It was only after this incident that their bond properly started to grow.
I think we are overthinking this memory to be honest, because there's so much held inside Ani that it can't be pointed down to one incident that makes him break through. It's like a bottled up mixture of so many things that came out in the form of laughter. He was also crying through his tears. He wasn't simply laughing. It was more of an overwhelming laughter than a funny type of laughter.
