Okay so not just in itv we all know women are more penalized for everything generally as well. Sonakshi isn't absolutely right here but she has her reasons for making mistakes. But somehow everyone is acting as she's a whole vamp and the worst person. (i just read the youtube comments ) I remember whenever dev makes a mistake which frankly he's made so many its uncountable, everyone tries to understand him. How his upbringing has been like that, how he has reasons. I would go as far as to say even the makers have sympathised more with dev and let him off the hook very easy in season 1.

Sonakshi in the show and outside is neither being understood nor being sympathised by the audience. Is it just because the female audience is simping over Shaheer or is it just plain culture of expecting women to be perfect and nothing less.

I think there are many reasons for this.

1. Sonakshi is generally more idealistic, she does not have the impulsiveness and the intensity Dev has, which also raises the bar for her further. She is generally measured against higher standards, which is compounded by the fact that she is a woman. Like Ishwari pointing out that how can a mom differentiate between kids, would be acceptable for a dad but unpardonable for a mom to do so.

Imagine a class topper getting a 90 would create more hullabaloo than an above-average kid getting a 60.

2. The more fallible characters tend to generate more sympathy. Maybe people like to see people make mistakes and fail and hopefully learn.

3. For a show in its third season, people have marked out favorite actors and characters. Some stand by them no matter what, which is automatically against the other.

Or maybe this is all just writing lapses that were never thought through. They thought let's reboot and based on the reaction of the audience continue or discard.

I think it's both. Dev hooking up with multiple women after separating from sonakshi is fine but Sonakshi taking her own time and pace to accept Ayush is a big sin apparently.

It is culture to understand male leads character. It happens in every other show. Visit some forums here, u will find most of the forums praising male lead character. Example in kzk2, ppl sympathized anurag basu pushing prerna off the bridge 😆. And in madhubala, RK behaved ruthlessly n still ppl praised RK..😆. Even in iss pyaar, arnav behaved badly with kush, but forum full on lattoo over him. I used to feel bad when they used say show ran only bcoz of male lead and he can romance with wall n all..😆. But I am used to it. I hv seen where sanaya, drasti or even erica reached now. So, don't take it to heart.

Oh God! Don't get me even started on that 😶 These Arnav, Shivaye etc are still fine.... they are bad at the beginning but eventually their characters grow and they become ok.

But RK🤢 RK was one poisonous snake & remained poisonous till the very end. He not only just married Madhu for the sake of revenge, he then planfully made her fall in love with him, then "unwedded" her & discarded her to complete his revenge. But after she was gone, he realised his favourite toy was gone & forcefully brought her back again to "play" with her. He couldn't tolerate that she might actually live fine without him. Humiliated her at every drop of hat & then again married her saying now he loves her. But even after that he was still jealous so bad.... couldn't handle her success & planfully impregnated her to keep her at home. 🤢 And then put her through so much daily tantrum that she miscarried. And all these are apparently justified because he had seen his father commit suicide at young age.🤔 I never understood his charm or why women were gaga over such an abusive character.

You know when I first watched KRPKAB, Dev reminded me a lot of RK. Him breaking off with Sonakshi, still stalking her & bullying her potential fiance, creating ruckus at her engagement, then marrying her but not treating her right....& then again throwing her out with those horrible accusations.

The only difference was that in RK's case that PH dared to show openly that RK is grey character. He is twisted beyond repair & can never be normal. He tortured Madhu for his revenge & then later also he was insecure as hell because he is self centred & narcissistic. But in Dev's case, the makers have always sugarcoated his actions presenting them like he was forced to do all those by his Mother or circumstances or both. Even today, you would be alarmed to discover just how many fans still believe that Dev is a perfect boyfriend/husband but Sonakshi doesn't deserve him because she never understood him. In YT most of the comments bash Sonakshi for always fighting with Dev & hurting him all the time and I am like....what show are they watching?

I am trying to avoid YouTube comments these days. Everyone there are gleefully bashing Sonakshi & Suhana and siding with Ishwari. They are already convinced that Sonakshi is a bad mother & bringing in references from s1 & s2 that how Dev had "predicted" it right that she will be a horrible mother, how Dev had to take care of Shubh because she couldn't & how taking care of Suhana for 7 years doesn't even matter because she was not her kid anyway. Everyone is convinced that Ayush is the real son, Dev - Ishwari are right & Sonakshi is a bad mother. 🥱 Well done makers for this brilliant twist 🤪

Honestly I can't even. Like if my brother broke a mug with my face on it. Or I broke his favourite mug we would scream at each other the exact same way.

He cried when I accidentally broke his favourite pen. Does that mean his feelings are not valid. We have been sharing things for 21 years now.

Soha was crying so much and people are acting as if she's doing something out of the ordinary.

While the same the same people will probably do the same with their own sibling.

I feel like it's culture of expecting women to be perfect. Shows with extremely toxic MLs also have the fandom rushing to explain his broken past🤢 while not even considering the circumstances of the FL. The whole bad boy-angel romance that ITV and other cultures love has led to excusing the MLs actions and being extra critical of the FL and it boils my blood.
