It’s weird to me how hard IF is on actresses’ looks in general. I don’t know what the women around you all really look like but if all the women around me looked like the actresses judged unattractive by IF, I’d have much lower self esteem 😆 In this case, Karishma looks so much like Babita - I guess she must have also had 5 surgeries as her daughter is accused of. Babita was also a product of nepotism so same thing I guess how could that woman have been pretty enough for BW!

I agree that she was awkward in her first few roles. She was just a teenager when she started Prem Qaidi. She still had a bit of baby fat. Her face was a carbon copy of her dad's and the feminine features hadn't kicked in. But once she got into her twenties she really blossomed into a beautiful woman. A large part of it was grooming like shaping her eyebrows and using makeup to accentuate her features. Maybe she had work done. But whatever it was, she was super attractive.
Her debut was obviously due to her being a Kapoor. But I think her stardom came from her talent. After Juhi Chawla, she was one of the few female leads with a natural knack for comedy. Her comic chemistry with Govinda is legendary. Even though the movies have aged poorly, Karishma really shines. She also managed to totally overshadow Madhuri Dixit in DTPH which is a testament to her ability.
