It depends on the scene and the context.. these days movies rarely move you like they did before .or maybe I dont watch good movies lol

Fun fact: I have cried for more than 2 days after reading Harry Potter 🤣

Same here 🤗

Sometimes I watch some scenes only to cry esp the one after marriage that episode 😆

Your yellow, red and green attire sounds lovely :) Thanks for sharing a bit about the culture- I know nothing, and learning these little facts makes the scenes so much more layered.

That sequence- I can talk about it forever. It felt like we were seeing two different people. The sparkling eyes, bright smile of the dream-Pallavi, and the wistfulness in the eyes of present-day-Pallavi, the contrast in attire. It hit so deeply. And I love how Nikhil pulled her out of the reverie, and within a second she was smiling so brightly, dancing with Mansi and Amrutha and Nikhil. Perfect analogy of what her life had become- lonely, wistful, but putting up a facade of being so very happy for the sake of her family.

That scene was the reason I got so emotional when the vat savitri BTS came out- it was beyind heartwarming to see her dressed somewhat similarly to that fantasy, and being actually happy and content.

I am a Maharastrian born and brought up in Andhra - My dad was settled in Godavari area and my schooling all happened there. This show is close to me for that reason also as I perfectly understand the Telugu spoken by RR and Marathi spoken by the D family. It is exactly how we used to do in our house. Like when my siblings and me used to debate or fight we used to throw in words from both languages depending on which one would give the impact. 🤣

For my marriage, it took place according to Marathi rituals so I was dressed up in Navari Yellow saree with Red border and a Red churni with the pearls thing on the forehead(it is called Basingh in our culture) and my husband was so adamant of me having lots of bangles on my hands. So I had lots of green bangles on my hands. Telugu wedding goes in a different manner - Telugu people get married with white clothes which have a hint of red in the border. It is called Madhuparkalu.
The only thing I didn't like in the show is they didn't stick to marriage showing either the Telugu culture or the marathi culture. But it is okay - they need to get the pan India audience to know the marriage is happening so they went with the majority of what people expect.

Pallavi is definitely one of my favorite ITV characters of all times. The scene you mentioned...hayye. Matlab, koi iske saath kuch bhi karle, woh acchi hi rahegi. No wonder Raghav laughed when she said 'saat janmon tak yaad rakhne waala badla lungi' and all.

Agree.. her "achhai" doesnt rub off as preachy or holier than thou.. a lot of self righteous FL make you feel irritated.. not her. Just like for Raghav we say "ye aisa hi hai" Pallavi bhi aisi hi hai. But she isnt a doormat either... Sulo,Vijay,Manasi,Ved,Khajoor,Keerthi sab ko suna chuki hai. Even Amma and Ayi.. Raghav to khair 😆

I don't rewatch emotional scenes in MHRW more than 2-3 times mostly. Still Chalka Re Chalka was one of the scene which affected me a lot. Shivangi have portrayed the hidden pain of Pallavi fantastically. That one scene made me fall in love with Shivangi's acting

I am reminded of the promo for the show - wherein Pallavi withdraws her hand when Aayi tries to put mehendi on her and you have Raghav introduction. I really want a scene where Raghav asks Pallavi to put lots of Mehendi on her hands with his name on it. Usually in Telugu we do have a small festival during the Karthik month wherein married women put Gorintaaku(The Henna plant leaves) and pray to Shiva in the night. Since I come from Godavari area during Karthik month you can see women going to the ghats with all the married finery and floating a diya in the river. The sight truly was beautiful. Sigh sometimes I miss my native place so much.

Oh, I'm going to tag you for all my translation requests from now on!

Your wedding dress sounds awesome! ❤️

I still have hopes that if they ever get remarried again, we can see some kind of a fusion wedding combining rituals of both cultures. Abhi toh they showed no rituals, no traditions, truly it was more of a chore for them both- something they were forced into doing, so khatam kar ke aage bado types.

IKR!! I remember that scene so vividly! Show ke naam ke hisaab se, Pallavi ke haath pe kabhi toh mehendi rachni chahiye, and not the strange bracelet imprint waali, actual gorgeous mehendi all over her hands and all the way up to her elbows!
