I would love if the actual episode doesn’t show Shiva getting drunk. Over the years, I have developed a distaste for scenes of ML’s getting drunk and being angry at the FL or pouring out their feelings. I understand, sometimes it’s human nature to reach for the bottle when the pain becomes too much to handle. I’m personally a happy drunk... I drink to celebrate and prefer icecream when I’m ready to cry buckets 😆 my bestie is the opposite. Each to their own. I do understand why writers use this trope to allow a character to let out suppressed emotions. It’s just not my preferred scenario.
On screen, most of the time it becomes OTT. And it’s not the actor’s fault. The dialogues become slightly cringy and the entire attention is taken away from the core emotions. There are very few scenes under this category that are done right on ITV. Most of them are just over dramatic and involve unnecessary aggression.As someone who enjoys subtlety, I would have preferred a silent walk down a quiet street, him sitting on his tree too numb to react or a scene in the shower where all the memories wash over him. And then after that, we see Shiva come home late or he just avoids talking to Raavi. She provokes him and he blurts out that he read her diary. They have a confrontation but mostly from Raavi’s side. Shiva, being emotionally exhausted, withdraws into his shell. 💔
Anyway, I just hope the scene is presented with utmost care. Shiva’s heartbreak deserves to be remembered as one of the most powerful scenes on the show 💔
This is a beautiful post! I would have loved to see subtlety in Shiva's breakdown too, where he is just tired of everything happening around him and shuts himself up 💔
Or even something like ASR's breakdown in IPK. He did not get drunk, yet his breakdown was one of the most powerful scenes in the show
I was dreading Shiva's breakdown scene precisely because they would make him drunk.. I wish it wasn't that way, but ITV always likes to make the MLs drunk in these types of scenes 😕
