Chapter 3

Double Game

Fateh woke up early, packed his bag.Everyone was at the breakfast table, when Gurpreet asked " Fateh, itni subah subah kahan jaa raha hai". He answered " kuch nahi mummy woh academy ke liye kuch sports equipment lene Chandigarh jaana tha. 2 din mein wapas aajaunga".

As he left, Amrik got suspicious, as if he was hiding something. He called Jasmine requesting her to save his brother. While they planned their another move. Fateh left with Buzzo in their car.

While he drove the car, Buzzo asked " Now tell me what's your plan". He answered " To play double game" . Buzzo asked " matlab" . He replied " matlab jo dikhta hai, woh asal mein hoga nahi. Aur jo asal mein hoga woh kisi ko dikhega nahi".😉

Both the friends smiled as the covered the 2.5 hour journey. They stopped at travel and tourism agency. Perplexed Buzzo asked " yaara hum sports equipment lene aaye the , ye kahan aagaye".😳 Fateh smiled and said " Oh teri bhabhi ko lane ke liye pehle visa lagega. Kal raat ko maine ticket kara liya hai. Bas ab dua kar Visa approve hojaye".😳

Buzzo looked worried " What if someone comes to know about it in your family. Tere ko pata hai naa woh tujhe aur tejo ko alag karna chahte hai". He replied " Are yaar, chill. tu dekh bas ab ek dhamkedar suspense thriller".🤓

Later they bought some sports equipment and next day few winter wear, as it was very cold in Toronto.

As they drove back, Fateh said"mujhe bas yeh darr hai ki woh meri baat manegi. matlab mere saath India wapas aayegi".😔 Buzzo questioned " yaar, yeh bata woh tere saath wapas kyun aayegi. Duniya ko bolta hai yeh meri biwi hai, mein iska pati hoon. Oh aajtak tune ek bhi pati wale kaam kiye hai. She still consider you as your friend only. "

Fateh asked " matlab". He replied "matlab you need to create memories with her. Get closer to her. Jab tak tu usse yakin nahi dilayga ki tu uska pati hai. unka pura haq hai tujhpe. Woh possessive kaise hogi. Aur tere liye kyun ladengi"😳

Fateh nodded in affirmation 👍🏼as they drove back to Mogha.

After driving back to his home, when Fateh entered, he saw Jasmine having tea with Amrik 🤢, while there was no one at home. Surprised he asked " Amrik sab kahan gaye hai". He answered " woh bhai, sab pummy aunty ke yahan Jagrata hai toh wahan gaye hai"

As Fateh was about to leave , Jasmine asked " Fateh maine suna Tejo tumhe chod ke chali gayi hai, humesha ke liye. Phir bhi tumne Canada ka ticket kara liya kyun".😒

He earnestly waited for her to make her next move. Now, when she had played her turn, it was his chance to play. Thus he replied " haan woh Tejo ko job mili hai, toh dependent visa pe job dhundoga. Bas ek baar job miljaye phir...".😊

Before he could complete , she replied " phir hume ek hone se koi nahi rok sakta. Oh Fateh I was so wrong about you. Tum mere aur mere sapne ke bare mein kitna sochte ho. Tejo se tum alag ho jaoge. Yaa ho chuke ho, bas ab tumhari naukari, phir hum dono Caneedde"

As, Fateh smiled sarcastically, nodding his head affirming her notions🥺. He entered his room and said " ab tak tum game khelte aayi ho naa Chameli. Ab dekh mera double game"🤪

Chapter 4

Flight of Dreams

It was after a wait of 9 days, a visa approval e-mail was received. Fateh knew this was his only chance to get his wife back.When he disclosed this news to Virk family, it was mixed response, few were expecting that he will bring Tejo back , and few that he will get a job in Canada to finally settle with Jasmine. But what was about to happen no one knew.

Jasmine too was happy with this news, that her dreams will get its wings now. As much she hated Tejo for snatching her man😡, she loved her too for the sacrifice Tejo was making.☺️ Elated she went to meet Fateh at his academy and said " mein Tejo ko, aur tumhe humesha galat samjha Fateh. I am sorry for that. Woh kya hai naa bachpan se mujhe jo bhi cheez pasand aati, Tejo mujhe de deti. Ab mein apni pasand usse kaise de dun. I am happy now. Ab sab thik hoga. humara vyah, phir Canada"

Fateh smiled at her and replied " nahi pehle Canada mein job , phir baki dekhte hai. Kya pata tum last time ki tarah tum phir bhag jao. 😃isliye abhi zada mat socho" . But who cares when it comes to Canada none can stop her.

Everyone at Sandhu's house was dejected on the last letter by Tejo, and now the made up story of Fateh - Jasmine wedding by her. They knew Tejo would never return to India now. She had already sacrificed so much that it was better she lived there.

It was on 12 October, Fateh was ready to board his flight. He had packed the annulment papers which none in the family knew about. Boarding and security check were complete. Air Canada took him to the city where the love of his life lived - Toronto.

He had booked a hotel for stay, next to Toronto university. Everyday he went there to silently observe how lifeless Tejo has became. It was on third day he caught her outside the campus.

Surprised , she went to hug him . The happiness to see him in front of her eyes . She was overwhelmed to control herself. But she had to. Tejo asked " Fateh tum yahan kya kar rahe ho. Maine woh letter mein sab likha tha. Aur tumhe kaise pata mein yahan hoon"🤔

He wanted to hug her tightly, but looking at people around . He said " Can we go to nearby park and then talk "

As they went to a garden , he continued " so answering your question , mein yahan kaise...mein apni biwi se milne aaya n

hoon, uski yaad aa rahi thi. Dusra question woh letter ...let's discuss about it later. Tesra question kisne bataya tum yahan ho Abhiraj ne"

Tejo smiled and said " toh tumne mujhe dhund nikala, yahan kahan ruke ho ...hotel mein. chalo mere saath apne ghar chalo"👍🏼

Fateh felt happy when he heard "apne ghar"😳 thinking in his mind" woh toh mein tumhe lejake rahunga"

He checked out from the hotel , to shift to Tejo' s flat in a studio apartment. He said " tum dono behene kitni alag ho . usko bada ghar chaiye , aur tum har cheez mein khush rehti ho".

She said " mein har jagah khush rehti hoon, kyunki maine complaint karna hi chod diya hai. " with a broken voice..🥺

He understood why she always suppress her feelings . But this time it won't be the case he pledged to himself. 😉

Chapter 5

Getting Close

It was late in night after dinner, Tejo stood near the window pane, staring the rain drops on the glass she took a sip of hot choclate coffee. Fateh kept his cup aside and hugged her from back smelling the scent from her hair.

It was the same smell of shampoo which he used to know that his Tejo has just taken shower. He said " pata yeh smell ko maine kitna miss kiya, tumhari adrak wali chai, tumhare haath ka bana khana. Sach bolun tumhare bina nend bhi nahi aati ab. tum jabse gayi ho,meri zindagi se sukoon bhi chala gaya hai"

Encapsulated in his arms, Tejo listened to all he said. His warm air, as he exhaled she felt on her left ear. As if she missed him too , holding his hands, feeling protected inside his arms..with her eyes closed as if a soulful music was played.

She turned and hugged him back, saying " pata hai Fateh jab se yahan aayi hoon, ek zinda laash ki tarah jee rahi thi, kuch karne ka mann hi nahi karta tha. tum saath hote the toh lagta tha jaise koi hai jo aapki fikr karta hai. tumhare saath lunch dinner karne ki aadat pad gayi ki ab toh khaana bhi beswad lagta hai tumhare bina"

A water droplet trickled on her eye, bringing her back to present. She continued " I know ...hum ache dost hai, aur humesha rahenge. Par hum kabhi sahi mayno mein pati patni nahi ban sakte. kyunki humare beech waisa kuch nahi ho sakta" releasing him.

As she tried to move away , Fateh pulled her back in his arms, holding her face with his right hand. He replied " mujhe yeh toh nahi pata ki humere beech kya ho sakta hai , aur kya nahi. Bas mein itni jaanta hoon ki tum meri biwi ho, aur mein tumhara pati. Aur mein yahan itni dur tumhare pass kuch maksad se aaya hoon" freeing her .

Tejo' s mind was filled in flashback, when she cleaned his room. He saw all love letters and the gifts that were returned by Chameli. She had read those letters and came to know how much Fateh loved her sister. Indeed she never got any gift from him, as it was just a namesake marriage. Realizing that she could never be the special person in his life . She replied " haan mein janti hoon ki tum jis ladki se pyaar karte ho, woh Canada mein hi rehna chahti hai. isliye ab jaldi se koi job dhundo taki tum dono saath khush reh sako."

Fateh smiled silently, as Tejo was indeed a very special person to him, whom he can never stay away from. If it means to stay with her in Canada then be it.

It was late in night, when he didn't find her on bed next to him. He turned to see her sitting on couch enjoying cartoon movie . He sat near her asking for popcorn. She said " kya hua lafandar neend nahi aa rahi?' . He replied " Oh yaar Tejo tumhe pata hai naa tumhare bina mujhe neend nahi aati"

As they smiled at one another. Fateh continued " aur yeh tum kya baccho wale cartoon dekh rahi ho. Chalo acha hai, jab humare bacche honge , toh woh bolenge hum are mummy papa saath mein cartoon dekhte hai" to be followed by an awkward silence realizing what he just said.

He put the bowl on side table to sleep on her lap. Holding her hand to soon fast asleep. As she remembered the last time he holded her hand he said " Jasmine toh mujhe chod ke chali gayi, Tejo ji aap mujhe kabhi mat chod ke jana"

She was confused, what about that promise she made that night never to leave him. Or should she for happiness of Jasmine and Fateh. It didn't matter how much she loved him, as it nothing could happen between them. Even after getting close they were still far from each other.

so beautifully written. it's true, we only realize the true value of someone or something, only after losing it. The same is happening to both Fateh and Tejo as they are realizing more and more what each other's presence meant to them. Looking forward to reading the next chapter 😊
