Toh isliye I think may be the writers wanted to write a lead character like Kartik but could not due to the theme. Sonu Dadi Maasi and many others are equally imp in the show like Kartik but efforts cannot be seen in their characters as much as Kartik's.

I think the writer had a dream make character since long but it didn't materialize as it would not match Ahaan's character due to the theme of the show.

So the writer brought it into live through Kartik. Somehow his character building shows off more efforts than Ahaan's and this may be the reason.
