@bold: EXACTLY. This show never highlighted the vulnerability of Pallavi Deshmukh, whose entire world came crashing down on the night of her marriage.
And this is the track where we're supposed to see all of that.
Knowing what we know of the society we live in, we know there would be so, so much she'd have gone through. Not only was she an extremely young widow, her husband died the day of the wedding. I can just imagine the taunts- anaath hai, maanglik hogi, pati ko khaa gayi, bechare saas-sasur, unke bete ko cheen liye etc. These are disgusting statements, but we all know people would have said this.
(Translation for Amna- she's an orphan, she must be unlucky, she is the cause of her husband's death and for the poor parents losing their young son)
We got glimpses of this here and there- Krishna's mom in episode one, the family who came for Pallavi's rishta, Rahul's mom before she had a change of heart. She went through this everyday for two years.
This is why I don't understand the hate she gets for wondering how life would have been different had Mandaar not died. Who wouldn't wonder that? Pallavi proved herself to be not only self sufficient, but sufficient for her entire family. Mandaar's death was trial by fire for her, and she came through, shining. I'm so proud of her for it. But, that said, life in our world is easier with a man by your side, and for her to wonder how she'd have had to suffer less and fight less had he not died, this statement is perfectly understandable, and not at all a slight to Raghav.
