Hello Pandya Store Fam!
I have been gone a while from the forum and discussions because ITV shows mein continuous investment ab meri bas ki baath nahin hain. I had written an OS on ShiVi a while back and had plans to expand on it but as per usual my lazy side took over and now I have work and exams and kids and life in general. All this preamble to say, I may or may not continue this storyline in the future. Depends on mood, my ability to visualize where this goes etc. I hope you won't be too disappointed if I don't.
I am linking the OS which sets the premise for this one here, for anyone interested (At the time my username was UmIbrahim and now I have changed it to my name - Nidha).

So, forum waasiyo feel free to comment critique and like the work below. I have added translation of hindi dialogues I have used at the end.
SERENDIPITOUS
"Here this one looks good, nice building, good grounds" Shiva quipped perched on his boulder, one feet lazily stroking the river water, hand holding up the brochure of DD College of Arts.
"Wow! I did not know that infrastructure was the criteria to look for while seeking a good educational instituition" Raavi commented from her spot to his left. Unlike Shiva she seemed to be devouring her the booklet in her hands.
"Oy maami ki behen ki beti, just because we are now friends doesn't...." Shiva began
"Haan haan bohoth suni hain tumhari dhamki" Raavi piped before he could complete his sentence "Now be a good friend and actually read what's written about the place"
Suspicious of the complete silence that followed her request Raavi looked up and was met with an unusual sight. A glum looking Shiva Pandya.
"Shiva what's wrong?" she asked racking her brains to see what she had said.
"Mujheangreziteeksepadninahinaathi" his reply was warbled.
"Kya? Teek se bol na"
"Mujhe angrezi teek se padni nahin aathi"
"Oh" was the only intelligent reply Raavi could make. She knew that Shiva had left his education half way through. He was smart enough to bring profits to Pandya store and was well read on many topics. It had never seemed to her that he had any lack of knowledge.
"Well it's not a big deal you know, not knowing English" Raavi tried to mollify him.
"Easy for you to say, I feel like an idiot sometimes, in front of Dev and Krish. They chat away in English and I stand..." Shiva stopped abrutly. He would never have admitted that to anyone.
Raavi observed him for a moment. He loved his brother's dearly. For him to voice this small resentment was big.
"Do they tease you about it?" she asked.
"Sometimes" came a low reply "It's just for fun"
"You don't enjoy it Shiva and that stops making it fun. You should tell them"
"Mein koi baccha nahin hun baath baath pe complaint karnein ke liye" Shiva replied with irritation.
"Saying something hurts you does not make you a child, it makes you honest" Raavi said. She felt irritated with Dev and Krish for their lack of sense.
"Woh sab chodo tum mujhe yein bathao ki tumhein achanak college kyun jaana hain" Shiva brushed the topic aside.
"Mujra karnein" Raavi replied with a straight face.
"Hah hah should I laugh more?" Shiva asked sarcastically "Sach batha Raavi, ab kyun jaa rahin hon college"
"Ghar baithe baite pagal hon rahin hoon Shiva aur Mausi..." Raavi stopped abruptly. She knocked herself mentally for the slip of tongue.
"Maami kya Raavi?" Shiva sat up straight.
"Chod na" came the half hearted reply.
"Raavi"
Raavi sighed. Answering honestly was the only way out. Else Shiva would probably march off to her home right now, to shake Mausi down.
"Mausi is trying to fix my marriage" Raavi replied looking sideways at him.
Shiva stifled the urge to swear. What was wrong with the woman?
"Of course she is, that woman enjoys making people miserable"
"What makes you think I will be miserable if I got married again" Raavi protested.
"Do you want to get married?" Shiva countered.
"Not right now but in the future I might and I might be happy" Raavi replied.
"In the future yes but at the moment you are happy as you are right. Why can't your Mausi see that?"
"She's being a typical parent Shiva. She's worried about my future, about all the expenses"
"So? She will dump you in some other home. Come on Raavi, you are not an object"
Raavi felt touched by his indignation on her behalf. Shiva Pandya was more than the angry bull facade he put up for the world. He was smart, kind and intelligent. This friendship with him was a delightful find for her. For a few months now they had been meeting on this river bank, sometimes with tea and snacks, sometimes with a lot to talk about, sometimes with amiable silence. Without realizing , she had come to look forward to meeting him.
"Shiva, I know that. Which is part of the reason I want to study. I want to earn for myself and contribute at home Shiva. That way Mausi won't be too bothered and I secure a future for myself too"
"I don't think that will stop your Mausi. She is still haunting Anita isn't she?"
"Ever the ray of sunshine" Raavi smiled sarcastically at him.
"You can always ask me for help you know. I will help you face her" Shiva said with determination.
Raavi smiled genuinely. Shiva Pandya was a truly great friend and she would try her best to be one to him.
