Well... I guess most people based their views on through present day lens. I guess the concept of multiple wives didn’t really sit down with people and so Kashi automatically is the wronged party. Also the second half of the movie we saw more of Kashi always tryna do the right thing, and overshadowing Mastani, her courage and sacrifice was highlighted overtaking Mastani’s warrior persona. Whether that was purposely written like that or the DP failed while PC absolutely ate up that latter half is debatable. I know many people left that movie in awe of Kashi.

Also the whole mastani’s persona was never as impactful, at times it looked robotic performance wise, although she looked stunning.

The gems you get to read like this one:

"Mastani was a warrior when women walked in Pardas, but all the discussion is around her act of stealing Kashibai’s favorite playtoy"..

So Kashii ran a harem full of men and Bajirao was her favourite playtoy???😲

So expecting fidelity from one's lawfuly wedded husband is whining for one's favourite playmate?

And Mastani was not a homewrecker just because she was a kickass warrior princess???

Where, when, how???

Do read the whole conversation

Its not too difficult

Someone said Mastani "Stole" Bajirao

The context of my post was that he was some playtoy which could be stolen

You added "Harem full of men" on your own accord, so the gem is in your head, you certainly didn't read it on my post

Again, If one actually reads the post instead of constructing the "gem" in their head then they will see that we were discussing how there's absolutely no discussion on her or Kashi's other traits, discussion around them is limited to this romantic relationship

From where did you get that she is not a homewrecker because she is a warrior princess?

There are other aspects of this story, if you still want to add words and twist statements then we can not have a discussion, but you are not here for a discussion are you?

My Post why quote one part of It? I don't care of arguments, if you are looking for one, its not available here

What is this “stole a man” “homewrecker”?

The only person who had right on Bajirao was Bajirao, himself, Kashi had relationship with him, he fell for Mastani, how is she homewrecker? How can one steal a man?

Kashi was a dutiful wife and she had morals, No questions there, okay

Mastani came from a culture where polygamy was a norm, How is it immoral for her?

Krishna, husband of Rukmani practiced polygamy because Marriage was an alliance to strengthen kingdoms that’s why Rukmani never said she wanted to be in place of Radha

Its like watching Ekta Kapoor show, Sindoor ki takat, shadi ek pavitra bandhan, pati ko Chori karne Wali vamp

Was Kashi more than someone who got cheated on?

Why both women are reduced to wives and marriage when the whole story has much more to offer?

Mastani was a warrior when women walked in Pardas, but all the discussion is around her act of stealing Kashibai’s favorite playtoy

LOL... are you here for one, though?

Since Mastani was a warrior princess who fought wars at time women remained in Pardas itself make her better choice for you.. In discussions conclusions are drawn after hearing from both the parties...

And if you do not want other to pick up on "gems" do not use disparaging terms like playtoy.. I'm sure you know what it means..

BTW, Kashi did not cry or moped over her playtoy.. She held her head high and let go of her husband so that Bajirao could go to Mastani and continue with his hedonistic way...

The fact that she let go of her "pride" for her own self-respect elevates her several, notches higher to Mastani's character..

Because Kashi was always going to be the sympathetic character from a modern perspective. The one who is cheated on or left behind or doesn't get their love in a triangle always wins audience support. It's built to be that way. People just create justifications of great acting and all that but even if the acting was bad, all the empathy was always going to be with PC's character.

Bhansali has always screwed over Deepika. He uses her for her looks but gives the meat of his movies to other people. He did the same with Padmavati where they made a big deal about the movie being named after her but she has nothing interesting to do in it. The whole movie was focused on Ranveer being an anti-hero who gets to eat up the screen while Padmavati keeps simpering and staring at the screen with watery eyes.

You can blame the acting somewhat but when there is no meat written into the character in the first place, you can't expect an actor to perform miracles.

This makes sense

Kashi stood out as she moved on quickly and took on her duties while Mastani’s characterization was stagnant

deepika would not have stood out even if the char had more meant pc is far far better actress than deepika that just a fact that why pc overshadowed both bajirao and mastani

Yes, Someone who got cheated on is always sympathized and loved by the masses

I would have sympathized with Kashi, if it wasn't for her Guroor dialogue, then the scene where she says that Rukmani wanted to be in place of Radha, is infuriating
