Once that is broken, the person who has been betrayed will be the one who suffers the most, both mentally and emotionally. Your self esteem can take a blow, you’ll start to question everything about your relationship. What was real and what was fake? In most unfortunate cases, they’ll start to blame themselves, thinking that they weren’t good enough or they did something wrong. The person might have difficulties forming other relationships with their inability to trust someone.

Basically, it takes a second to break someone’s trust, but a lifetime to repair the damages. Believe me when I say, it’s easier said than done to just dust your hands and move on. I wouldn’t wish that kind of pain upon anyone.

I get it is difficult, I never said it is easy but who are we helping by telling them that it is difficult and worst kind of pain? One has to move on today or tomorrow, better today than tomorrow, Is there anything else one can do? Why give one human such importance that too when the twat is a cheater?

Point is we advanced too rapidly, we created comforts beyond our imaginations in few decades, but the memories of hardship of our lives are still stored in our DNA. We cannot reconcile with the comfortable life we have created for ourselves. So we created problems to make peace with our disbelief and guilt about our lives... this romantic love and dating and our self respect linked with this fidelity of others are few of these self created problem. Our great grand mothers walked miles for water, girls got married usually with onset of menstruation and mostly with strangers who were high bidders, majority died in childbirth, washed their sanitary napkins and reused them, going to washroom was an expedition everyday and every time. And these things were same across the globe minus the time lapse of two or three centuries.

And we here mop over some notion of romantic love and cheating and betrayal where these older generations most probably weren't even bothered by them.

Why did I write this long ass irrelevant piece of garbage, I have no idea!

Maybe I wanted to say that love or as we 21st century people perceive love to be was not a consideration for Mastani, Bajirao and Kashibai.

They were likely to be more worried about not being stabbed by any one or die of some infection.

Exactly...

And what was Kashibai supposed to move towards? Her career? Education? Next relationship?

Her place and women’s place in society was determined by one factor and one factor only - Her matrimony
