Rant post 2:

What's with the strange obsession of Hindi TV shows with Punjabification of the cultural nuances. I love the Bhangras, Giddas and Tapes but showing these dancing chops amidst the rich backdrop of a Gujrati family Pagphera custom in the name of Garba is downright problematic!

The dancing looked unreal at it's best. Where are the Navratri catchy songs? Kamariya, Chogada, Dholida, Dholida Dhol are Waghaad! So many colourful pieces could be done.

I am sucker for cultural nuances and believe that in as we are progressing, some of these are getting lost! They could have made them wear some traditional Gujrati outfits to celebrate in The Haveli. The whole Rasam looked like a freaking joke.

Bas, yehi DJ waley Babu mera Gana Chala do ki Kami Bachi thi!

I have just said the same thing here. The entire dowry culture was so gross!

Ikr!! This is so beautifully put up, exactly what I thought after today's episode. Shiva knew what he signed up for, I'm all excited to know his plan.

Since you mentioned most of it, another thing I absolutely loved in today's episode was that proud look Suman gave when Shiva strightly asked for kangan. Though she says she gave it as a dhaan, I still feel she somewhere yearns that last gift from her husband. She was all emotional when Shiva started speaking to her. Shiva and Suman's bond, they're just😻 both of them have similar characters, know what the others think expect when they're blinded by anger and hatred. I hope Suman explains Raavi's situation to Shiva and he genuinely apologises to her... Also, I liked how he called Raavi by her name, even when he told her to not interfere he didn't call her names.. I liked that!!

Same, I got abit emotional seeing Suman's and Shiva's bond. When she told him to come to her and tried explaining to him, in return he kissed her hands and talked about his childhood and what he witnessed - damn that was so emotional. KD and Kruttika scenes together are a treat to watch! PS have lucked out big time with these two. You're right Suman did get abit emotional when he mentioned that it's his father's gift to his mother but for mami it's just gold. This makes me want Shiva to actually get it back, give to Suman, Suman decides to put it on Raavi - it'll be like a gift from Suman and her husband.

You're right about the name part, didn't realise that until you just said it.

I have no idea what Shiva's about to do, or if ShiVi will go back to square one but he needs to realise he can't just put a innocent person in the middle of it. It seemed to come as a last minute thing and not as part of the plan but it was so wrong. I can't imagine what it would feel like to hear that. But like I said I can't also imagine going back to someone like mami either. Raavi is stuck unfortunately, and I want to hug her😭.

Well, this post is not about Shiva-Raavi as broken individuals but about the years of systematic internalised patriarchy that these shows propagate, including Pandya store, and they made Shiva the flag bearer of this.

Shiva asked for what was rightfully his mother’s, but the occasion and dialogues were cringed to the next level.

Dulha and his entitlement to his “manpasand Neg” just reiterated what women have been battling for years. The sense of male privilege and entitlement it brings to society as a whole is boggling.

I am not majorly pissed off with the final rock bottom clash of the titans, but the profoundly problematic Underlying message Of the occasion!

Suddenly, the entitled Dulha wanting Neg.

What flowed from henceforth was the downward spiral of Shiva’s childhood issues-where he was scarred for life. But can we get past the whole patriarchal tone of the Pagphera?

Agree with this 100% 👌👌

I think I mentioned this previously, but this ritual is normally a fairly simple one. There is never actually any nek for the man married into the family. This ritual is more for the daughter of the house. Unsure of how it works in other communities, it would be interesting to find out, but makers continuously make rituals such as this as regressive as they can, when in reality people are moving on from this and the last thing they need to do is bring it back.

This looks really funny.

Shiva’s expression is weird.

Am I the only one who feels so?🤣🤣

🤔
