I wonder if the actress and her fans see this and understands her role (guilt trip) consciously or sub consciously or they are all delusional. For example - if she/fans saw this writeup would it be news and a revelation for her or does she know it and is just doing what you said drive a point multiple times till people start repeating the stuff without even thinking through it.

I don't know the thought process but as far as my understanding is it not about character as such as it is about the actress and that too not caz they like the acting chops as such caz well there is not much there to like average at best but it is more to do with the gift wrapping itself.. see idk how much you have noticed it or no but in general it has been a trend the more glossy the better somehow that has been the standard set in last 6,7 years the content has gone considerably down caz people have goldfish memories they create drama and scenes over nonsense basically and cannot somehow look beyond the wrapping and the social media is a big culprit of it.. the age before social media there was still solid content caz viewers had nothing to do with who is wearing what and kitna ton make up lagaya hai it was very rare when somebody got hailed for fashion but ab it is all about that tamashe superficiality iss sab main content bohat peeche reh gaya hai.. and caz didi fits more the conventional looks and all nobody cares about her character as far as she says her token bakwaas self victimize and do fake drame of am standing up for myself lines.. nobody even wants to think how bizzare and silly she sounds while mouthing them but everybody thinks ke bhashaanbaazi means automatic powerful toh hail. That has been a norm across board nowadays even bahus who once were superheroes hardly actually do anything besides bhashan baazi they would give lectures on social justice , pseudo feminism but jab act karne pe aati hai ghanta inse kuch ho paaya hai and they think ke bas chila lena is peak acting .. caz it is easier to gloss over everything under glamor..

That is my pov and I could be wrong but it is what it is so just caz didi looks fancier does her token bakwaas means she is automatically mother India ya koi devi ..

thanks NM. I hear what you are saying. Regarding the glossing and the superficiaility in addition to than the actors - its the writers who are the main issue. They need to maintain the consistency of character sketch and ensure what an actor says is what they do and have been doing. I rarely find a show that does this unless its limited episodes. With these long running shows - I'm reaching the conclusion that it cannot be helped. Even in the case of Imlie - with much more superior writing than other shows - they fail horribly with this. Malini gets the worst writing and Adi's character mostly bears the brunt of it. You learn to never value what they both say.

Would it have been really hard for the writers to break off from IK and write her as a woman who actually grows - that would have been brilliant and taken the story to a diff dimension - writers did not do it as they can handle only one story at a time and Imlie's story was the central premise.

Creatives and writers need to be careful. The flow - sequence and consistency are both so essential for the integrity of the show.

The emotional sickness example really irritated me. We the viewers could catch immediately that Adi could not have known it. When the writers gave the script - could not the actors or the other folks in the team have caught and corrected it - aren't they more engrossed in this than us? Do they think anything goes and not care - or do they not invest the same time in knowing their own creation. It's these small nuances that elevate the show. Imlie does it better than most but still has a long way to go.

wow - the starplus interfernce you mention is scary!! This is only my third or 4th show I'm following. IPKKND Rangrasiya YRHPK and now this - so not much eperience and all these shows were pretty decent. I also watched Manmarziyan after it aired and thought it was decent. Toying with watching Ib since a lot of you rave about it...but the little i watched was very OTT so still debating :)

also i forgot to answer about the interviews let me tell you they are always too afraid to actually address that the character has flaws har kisi ko ego issue hota hai ke hum bas sabse ache hai and hum hi hum hain not the first time.. it is rare to see awareness like GM ke adi si flawed he is grey and he is human which is why he chose it.. others would be the most negative characters but would be too afraid to actually call it out caz they think ke yeh keh dene se woh neeche gir jaayein shayad... Facts dusra Ph's and Pr bhi hote hain.. they may know it but they would never say it in public due to the images they have to maintain.. it is a dirty business afterall *shrugs*

Gul and Team failed so miserably with IB ka redux and whatever generation leap they did but inki ego ki baat thi they never would acknowledge that ke haan suceess aayi toh failure bhi aaya koi chota nahi ho jaata but Yahan ego's bohat fragile hoti hai.. and it take guts to admit ke galti bhi hoti hai kahin aap sahi jaate ho kahin galat Normal hai

Ib is full parody mode it is Quitessential Troll and OTT family drama about a dysfunctional family there is a lot you have to zone out but it is light easy breezy fun and The main couple that is shivika Had a proper story they just managed to sail through all ups and down it is just the feel good show we all need to go back to on any day.. there are loopholes and blooppers and jUst Extreme LULZ and Fun stuff but the basic conflict had been maintained and addressed and it has the best redemption arc till date.. Shivaay and anika may look the typicla gul leads on surface too but they are not they have actual layers too and actual Journey A saath and continuity ... and they remain the best caz they aren't your typocla bas LLHH hi without context.. i mean there is a lot of cliche there but it is not just for the sake of Feels and hormones if you know what i mean

I agree with you on this, but look at it from their point of view as well. We as an audience tend to watch on repeat earlier episodes when we love a series. your statement reminds me of the various bloopers that fans have pointed out in American shows, where conversations that had never been shown suddenly show up in a characters reference. So the fact that we get closed loops and actual arcs that get completed shows me that Imlie is quite ahead of the pack, so thank god for small mercies.

In reference to Malini's character, as a daily soap, they are constantly trying to come up with a coherent storyline that makes sense and shows the characters growth. Here they have the tendency to focus on one character and tend to either white wash the others, or turn them into a vamp. Vamp bana nahi sake to use pura white wash kard diya without giving her any depth or any chance to put any variances in her character. Like GM once said that she is a one-toned character, she has been maintained as such. Now the biggest drawback is that even there they made he very inconsistent and that highlighted her fakeness and bechargi to the 200th level, which is what irritates the viewers the most.

Weirdly speaking I did not know this until very recently. A friend of mine mentioned about this when I was discussing about ITV and she said that her company actually analyses each scene individually to see the financial impact on the TRP audience and then accordingly gives feedback to the writers and the production house to modify the story accordingly. She mentioned the almost all Ekta Kapoor & Start Plus shows do this and I was quite stunned. Your explanation along with this knowledge helps tie together exactly why we get the kind of content that we do today. While I have been watching ITV for a very long time, I have never really followed any show or rewatched episodes the way I do for Imlie, mainly because like you said, the writing is definitely superior and also they have maintained the leads characterizations pretty much from the start till date for almost 200 episodes. This gives me hope that it will continue to be different and will be liked also for that factor only.
