Motivation in a character is very important. It tells us why we are following a story at a certain point in time and it tells us why a character might be making the decisions they do.

Say what you will about Jasmin’s character/actions her motivations are rather clear in a way. She wants to get to Canada and in her eyes the only way to do that is through marriage which is why she’s going on these dates and entertaining this guy. However, her other driver is her ego- which Fateh has bruised- So she is trying to stick it to him and trying to prove that he still loves her/can’t be happy without her.

I bring her up because even though her actions are selfish and even disrespectful to her own family and people who cared about her it makes sense or at least you can understand why she’s doing it if you look at her motivations.

However, characters that I have yet to find the motivation for are Amrik and Gurpreet?? Anytime they are on screen I always find myself asking-what are you doing this for? what do you have to gain? and I don’t know yet 🤷🏻‍♀️ Especially Amrik when you compare him to Buzzo and Mahi who also helped Fateh with Jasmin and we’re just as invested.

I always find Jasmine very clear in her goals and thoughts. Whether it's Canada or Fateh cannot move on.

She doesn't lie to herself.

You made a very good point, everyone have their own reasons or atleast twisted mentality in whatever they are doing..

Jasmine, because we all know nothing is more important to her than her canada and her pride is priceless to her and both were broken cause of fateh, so she wants to prove everyone and herself as well on some level that fateh could never forget her and love anyone else let alone her own sister. You dont have to agree with her but we can see where she is coming from..

Then we have fateh who is heartbroken because his love of life left her at the altar because canada was more important to her than his love. He fought with the whole world, his family, left his ambitions for her and she could not even wait for a month. So i dont support him when he lashed out at tejo but atleast he got a reason for it even if its not enough..

But amrik, even my last brain cells could not find a single reason for his warped thinking. He himself saw what jasmine did at the wedding, still he is blaming his brother and siding with an outsider and insult his bhabhi who is legally married to his brother. Seriously he is the worst written character in the show..

For me gurpreet is a very close second after amrik, she is also very illogical and a total brainless person...

I agree. Jasmine's character has been true to its motivation at least even though a few contradictions are there. Although a Fatejo fan, there was one time when Jasmine was completely right in both her actions as well as reasoning although the matter could have been handled in a better way none the less the actions would have been the same.

The Roka Episode where Fateh's Chachi gifted Jassu a pair of earrings that she clearly expected Jasmine to wear for her Roka ceremony. Jasmine ends up not wearing them and Chachi complains to Gurpreet. As usual, easy to get provoked Gurpreet shows her angry side confronting Jasmine in private and Jasmine solves the matter then and there, by showing the earrings gifted to her, reasoning that they weren't matching her dress thus she didn't wear them which made complete sense to me. The earrings were blue and her dress was peach. Give her a break man. And she shows the earrings pointing out the mismatch post which she offers to change the earrings on the spot but Gurpreet lets her be, (implying she saw how mismatched the earrings were). Even if they weren't, wouldn't a girl, especially a bride have already decided everything for her special day? and now comes someone with the hopes that she wear something gifted by them on that special day? Ancestral cheez thodi hai.🤔 Baadmein kabhi pehen legi yaar!

How she could have handled the matter in a better way: Right when the earrings were gifted she must have obviously seen the mismatch and should have said it straightaway that it doesn't match or even better that she's gonna wear something that's been gifted by her important family member or something but there's another dress that she plans to wear for rituals and she'll wear them during those rituals. Even if she doesn't have the dress she can buy it later. Tejo se hi koi dusra dress maang leti.😆
