The reason I came up with was the character essence, The stories can be any different but the basic character traits of characters if changed doesn't seem to be story of these characters and more of just stories pushed with names of the characters. Thus putting off the reason to read. So I tried thinking of traits which can be attached with these characters.

Raghav - Rich, arrogance, pride, family person, sarcastic, protective, no BS attitude

Pallavi - Mature, full of life, honor, simplicity, healer, non-confrontational, chatterbox

Opinions? Additional traits or ur experiences with stories posted here. Anyone else also facing troubles in following stories.

I will definitely agree with you that there are few stories here which I lose interest in reading beyond a few paragraphs and sentences and it's completely natural because as an individual we have our own preferences and expectations. There are many OS, TS and FFs here and I know in some of them lot of hardwork and visualization has gone into it.

I agree that we like reading OS where RaghVi is same as show but imagine there are multiple people here, and if everyone tries to maintain the same essence of the character---all the stories would start sounding similar eventually--even after being put in the different situation and scenarios. Most of us could literally expect what might happen next because we know the character well enough to predict their response. This is a free forum, writers can write whatever they wish to write but reading and writing OS wont be fun anymore if the characterization of RaghVi remains same---exploring and writing different angles is what is fun to read.

Character trait is something which is not constant even in the show--what we viewers actually expect from the character and what it turns up doing--hence it is something which can be explored and changed. A complete drastic change does put off some people from reading it but there are just few writers who even after even after doing this make the story interesting.

Raghav has a lot of humour in him and sometimes empathetic and a really soft person from his core. Although in the initial episodes of MHRW the potrayal of Raghav's characters were your list of attributes but over the period of time a lot more attributes has been added to his character. Similarly, Pallavi was considered to be weak and I think everyone has said in the forum that they dont like the fact how Pallavi was blinded by Deshmukhs but in recent episodes she stands strong and there is more to Pallavi than we have seen and guessed.

Whether attracts me most to the story is how it starts; the beginning of it should just pull me and hook me onto it and there are just few named writers who are able to do this in the forum. But I read every single story, as each story gives different perspective to look into the characters and little entertainment(also because this semester has really less assignments and work). I am not a huge fan of AUs but then again there are some exceptions because there are few really good AU on RaghVi.

The essence of RaghVi will not be constant neither in the show nor the forum because they are developing characters and it is a developing storyline--the only thing to remain constant would be their love for family--and it's a truth.

Does that mean if Raghav suddenly changes into a soft, kindhearted & poor person and Pallavi to a Ghamandi Rao in the show, you will stop reading OS and watching show because your essence of Raghav is supposed to be prideful and arrogant and Pallavi's to be soft, mature?

I know this is your opinion, but mine is that over a period of time if we keep the essence intact--reading all RaghVi stories won't be something fun and entertaining anymore. and I know that what you feel is felt by many others too and its totally their wish if they want to read it or not or if it piqued their interest or not.

Very well penned. And to answer ur question... Yes, I will loose interest in the story if character is changed to that extent as thats not the character I signed up to follow. Any story can be great and so can any character be. I also agree with creativity going into keeping story intriguing and entertaining and is the main reason I reject many ideas before penning it down myself as writing same stuff is just more of cashing in on characters then passion to write about the same. If any story or plot can be with any traits then those were never need to be RaghVi stories.

I agree that characters do evolve but core never changes which is clearly followed in every story not only in show or particularly MHRW. In show also from start till now the characters r almost consistent. Evolution is dere but it also don't stray far from their actual core traits.

Freedom to write different scenarios, behavior and traits is good but then one need to accept u r not writing for characters but u r naming ur characters the same which don't have inside of the names u r giving homage too. Writing is a tough job as any and if u r writing a story for established character then its more like paying respect to their core ideals and not burning it down to create a new one. Because that can't be a homage but writer telling their story not character story.

Last point, Keeping story interesting, fun and readable is writer's job. It should be quality of writing not numbers which should be concentrated on.

NOTE : Strictly my opinion. For all readers and writers who follow and like to read any and all should be good. I myself don't travel on that ship.

First of all thank you. This whole discussion sounds to me like a debate competition somehow.

I appreciate your point of view and my views are kind of in a similar track regarding stories but the track separates into two when it comes to the point how far the characteristics of RaghVi can be explored. I understand you want the writers to stick to the baseline and I have read many of them do so too. Writing down random stuff in stories where the characters don't give off the vibes of RaghVi and where a reader or writer thinks the story can not be applied to RaghVi is any situation aren't appreciated by the readers. But then again by stating this, we are hampering with the freedom of writers and how they want to express RaghVi as even though you, me or someone else might absolutely dislike it.

Truly said, writing should rather be about quality rather than numbers. If a person has a large number of work under their account does not make them a credible writer. I am quite sure about the fact most of the writers here are either amateur writers who are gifted in writing or had literature as their subject or have writing as a hobby and are using it as a medium to express their love for RaghVi.

Writing for me has been all about articles and essays and being a part of this forum I have explored the quality inside me if I can do justice to writing stories. Burning down the character to create a new one like a phoenix is something which will satisfy none of the readers and not only you. I have not yet come across any work which slays down the actual character and brings out something new but I rather think they are trying to enhance the character in their own way. Writing is a fun job and making the story interesting, fun and readable is not everyone's cup of tea. and just the fact that a writer is unable to write stories of what we want should not discourage them at all from writing. I can guarantee that many of writers who might have come across this post might have felt slightly disheartened with the fact that they are not able to deliver the writings which the readers want.

I have read your OS and FF--and I can see a lot of thinking has gone into it to be able to put a different concept in a creative way--especially the jail one(152 perhaps; I'm not sure yet) and your recent OS but not everyone can be as good as you and cater to the audiences that well.

Evolution in characters is there, but some characters are flipped for the time being to adjust and their core character does make a return.

I also understand the fact that this is strictly your opinion and you have just wanted to express it and it's absolutely alright. We are not all profound writers like you but your decision whether you want to read a story is based on you solely and what you feel about it and I completely accept it. This is not me countering your point but this is strictly my opinion and how I feel about it. I have written too much I guess

Actually ur post made me rethink of where all this discussion spiraled down to. It actually is seeming like a debate and thus its not of ny use to extend on it.

Regarding my writing, Thanks for appreciation.

Just a note to any writer reading the same. Its not to stop anyone from writing as its a very creative way out to spread ur horizon and all the points mentioned are just personal preference. 99% people can disagree with the same and thats perfectly fine. So, do write. Its really a great thing to have. A getaway to be creative.
