Has any Indian Idol winner ever been even successful? I don't remember. So I think the contestant who lifts the Indian Idol trophy is most unfortunate and unlucky. It's like winning is a bad omen. Look at Pawandeep. He won The Voice or whatever show that was so many years back I believe. Look where he is. Nowhere. He is still just a reality show contestant. No progress career wise. Still stuck. Now Look at Sachet Parampara who participated in the same season of the same show but didn't win. They arr currently one of the top musicians and singers of Bollywood. They gave such beautiful and chartbuster music for Kabir Singh and many other movies. So I think it is better not to win.

It's not about winners. It's about the politics on shows where deserved contestants never win. Hence contestants who won remain as hall of fame most of the time. The fane they get from reality shows is temporary in my opinion. They need to work hard to build on it and be successful.

What have these Indian Idol winners got by being in the Hall of Fame having failed in their careers? All 11 have pretty much failed. So the politics is a blessing in disguise for the contestants who are unable to win. The instant fame gets inside the heads of these winners, they lose their way and become failures in future. While the others keep on working hard, strive for excellence and may have of a brighter future.

SMP should be and will be in top 5 without any doubt.

Earlier, I was not much bothered about SMP, getting eliminated, by the same logic as you have mentioned. But seeing so much of trolling and hatred, including mocking her mannerisms, and even her mother, on some of the websites, makes me feel, she MUST at least reach Finale, to spite all those nasty haters, whose only pastime and achievement in life has been to target the girl, for her different approach to singing.

I might get trolled for saying this but Pawandeep isn't as great a singer as people make him out to be. He's a much better musician but his fan base is toxic af.

Every music industry in the world has his own style that majority of the audience enjoys. If one doesn't fit into that, they don't reach the heights. India still enjoys Hindustani music, Bollywood style pop and Indianised music. Even if a song sounds western, there are Indian elements in the singing.

Just like Spain, Turkey, Romania have their own styles of music and while they will enjoy Indian music, it won't be a huge part of their industry.

SMP does not fit in at all. True she might have a niche, but now her performances have become more of "jugalbandi" with musicians and co-singers. The last time I checked this was a reality show, not a concert. Gimmicks are fine once or twice, but the rest of the times we as an audience want to hear the songs without it being stretched.

Not only that, but SMP's style of singing doesn't even fit most Bollywood songs. She cannot yodel and hit falsetto notes every time. Most of the times she has sung songs that weren't even in the theme of the episode, or she hasn't sung at all. But the worst part is, she is damaging her vocal cords because of all the high notes she tries to hit.
