🤣🤣

I was thinking the same thing. The songs are so perfect. Especially manma emotion. KV’s expressions in that scene cracks me up even now.

Like turning your wife upside down to see if she has stolen money??

10 years back Ipkknd was my favorite show. But today when I think back, to all that Arnav put her through, manhandled her, makes me wanna throw up.

I was also pissed off with the Sindhoor marriage. Even though they loved each other. But consent matters! A lot! And once Anokhi gave hers, I was ok with it.
But some of these other shows. God! Blackmail marriage n family honor nonsense, boils my blood.

@bold: me and you both with IPK. I was so obsessed with that show. I really can't rewatch, even nice scenes, because now I know ASR was a horrible human being who tried to destroy Khushi's life and the only thing he ever did was say 'sorry'.

The patriarchy shines in this. It's always the males, threatening family izzat, and the females, sacrificing themselves at the altar of honor. Why is it never the other way around? Why does the opposite equate to an Aitraaz situation??

I'm still of the belief that sindoor doesn't make a marriage. But her acceptance of him as her husband makes them married for me!

I understand the attraction to see something in fiction that you wouldn't support elsewhere, but the fact that it's a trend worries me. Like our narrow view point in society is so suffocating.

I've watched a lot of ASR-type male leads and loved them. But I've also had access and awareness of a lot of other things, to not accept such crap in my real life.

I'm highly doubtful Indian society will every change if this is the fodder they're fed. I still watch some clips of Ghum here and there. I like Sai and that's about it. I don't understand why adults have to live with emotional abuse because they're blood related. That family izzat topic is given too much importance....India is still a nation that has honor killings.

I would love to see a daily soap succeed that actually had people live together before marriage and their family isn't scandalized. How does the screen of "marriage" protect someone's izzat?

I would be an anarchist if I wasn't brought up in desi society, I think. I don't get how human beings decided that we'll go to school from 3 to 21, then work, then marry, then produce children many times over, then wait to die!

It is 2021!

And pray tell me why is it, that the onus of family honor most often than not falls on the woman, or the younger generation? Elders don’t have accountability??

If people took fiction as fiction then there won’t be any problems. But taking Kabir Singh as inspiration and wanting a partner like him is really worrying. If I met someone like ASR in real life, I would run in opposite direction. But there are girls who say that they want a boyfriend like Kabir Singh! I am like wahh??

Yeah. The double standards and hypocrisy are so deep rooted in Indian society that I don’t see it changing soon. Ghum absolutely gets on my nerves. Toxicity in family is so normalized.

Whenever I hear family izzat I wanna slap someone. How is it more important or bigger than a humans emotional and mental well being?

@bold

I don’t know how many years we will have to wait for something like that Anju. Coz ITV audience ain’t changing. See the trp topping shows fir example.
Living together is a dream. Show them dating/hugging and kissing for starters. But nah!! Not gonna happen!

@green

Yeah!! Who decided for everyone??
