It is very unfortunate. I just came across a ET video where it's written the actress playing Sonu is getting rape threats. I don't know what to say.

People are disgusting and most of these people who target actors are juvenile or teenagers .

When you can't differentiate between a character and an actor , you shouldn't watch a show at all.

Dt said and done , in recent times it has become inevitable. Though I seriously didn't expect this to happen over such a small separation track on the show. But yes dese days actors hv to learn to deal wid it....block or report these accounts or file a police complaint if one is harrasing. These people behind the screens are mostly cowards of highest levels who can only show such ugly faces behind a comment or tweet.

I remember Drashti Dhami was even physically harassed when she was portraying the role of the other woman on Silsila. It was scary for her. She even quit the show after it all escalated.

I don’t know about India but many countries now have cyber laws where online threats and harassment are a crime and can be reported to the authorities. She should just forward these type of threats to the police.

Its shame that an actor has to go through all bashing and trauma for playing their part. Not just Shagun, Param is facing a lot of bashing as well. Being a die-hard Param's fan, I really can't see this happening. People should learn to differentiate between actor and a character. Its pretty fine if you are disliking a character for some reason, but keep that to fiction level only.

Actors are just doing their job and its disheartening to see her penning down things like this. Where's the sensibility?

I am not super active on any of the social media, but from what I see, people are bashing writers, director and character and not actors. So, there is no need for any of the actors to feel different. In my opinion.

True ACTORS PLAY THEIR ROLES BUT EHY ALSO SIGN UP FOPR BAD SCRIPT WRITERS AND EVEN WORSE PRODUCERS WHO CONTINUE WITH EVIL TWISTS AND TURNS ...WHEN THE PRODUCDER HERSSELF SHOWS RAPE AND VILENCE AGAINST ON A EXPLICIT AND OVERT WAY IN HER SHOWS AND THINKS THAT THE STORY LINE WILL GET INTERESTING AND WILL DRAW AUDIENCE HOW CAN WE BLAME THE ACTORS WHO SIGNED UP FOR THIS KIND OF NONSENSE

AM SHOICKED THAT NO INIDAN tV SERIAL CAN BE MADE WITHOUT CLEAN FUN UNLESS ITS ON SOME COMEDY CHANNELS ???

REALLY ARE WE THAT BAD OR MORONIC AS A NATION THAT WE THRIVE ON THIS KIND OF ABSURD STORIES ..I JUST HOPE INIDAN FORUMS GIVES FEED BACK TO THE PRODUCERS OF THE SHOW THAT THE TWISTS AND TURNS ARE NECESSARY AND SHOULD BE INTERESTING AND EVEN THRILLING BUT NOT HEAPED WITH ABUSE

The way Sonu's character is written, criticism is meant to happen. But at time people forget the difference between the actor and character.

Also criticism should also have a boundary, people tend to cross it which makes the actors uncomfortable. 😔

This reminds of the Gul's IPKKND show days. The actor who played the infamous villain Shyam Manohar Jha got such pure hate from the fandom because he was the reason for the biggest MU between the leads which led to the longest I'm-gonna-hate-you-forever track in the history (and Gul keeps using that same recipe everywhere). It was many years ago but if I'm not wrong he even got multiple death threats for just playing his part. When actors pick up a role that is abusive, misogynist or problematic in some way or another, and later are shown to be forgiven and loved despite ALL their wrongdoings, it indirectly justifies being abusive. I'd say the same goes with portraying weakness. There are people like Sonu who are constantly trying to live up to the "values" set by their families and the society because of the fear of being rejected and humiliated, and in a way this is a valid fear because sadly, it's deep-rooted in the culture. However, when Sonu as a fictional character does not speak up, it further promotes and strengthens that fear among those whose situation might be like Sonu's in real life. Neither Ishqi nor Sonu confided in anyone (in a way, Ishqi enabled Sonu's fears by covering for her). If I were a Sonu in real life and saw her or Ishqi or both coming up with something to fight back despite the high-risk of it all, it certainly would have encouraged me.

Having said that, I'm totally against this whole bullying-the-actors practice because the actors hardly have any say in how the plot unravels or what values and strengths are practiced by the characters in the story. It is their job and we often don't have a choice when we're doing our jobs. If anything, I'd criticize Gul (and desi tv CVs in general) for never getting "strong woman" right without messing something up😳.
