I would take Ranveer’s Lootera any living day over every single movie Shahid has worked in. Also, I got to see a live example of their acting differences in Padmavat. The only memorable thing about Shahid in that movie was his tiny nipples 😆

Udta Punjab, Kaminey, Haider, Kabir Singh...the range is endless. Ranbir is the only other one who gets the nuances right among the under 40 A-listers...

Ranveer's mindless hamming is often mistaken for great performances by the general masses.

Ranveer in serious/comedy/historical and Shahid in romcoms. None should do action.

Ranveer doesn’t overact in most of the roles that are not larger than life and/or pure massy. You are bound to be theatrical in a Bansali movie or a massive masala piece; subtly is not what the director/audience expect in BW from a hero. I’m not the audience for these type of movies so I just skip. And it happens that Ranveer picks a very eclectic mix (and higher volume) of movies which exposes him more (Ranbir and Shahid experiment less and tend to be a lot safer in their choices hence coming across as more solid - both are also good actors overall though). Ranveer did have to find his feet with his earlier movies (he went overboard with Lootera). His performance was near perfect in BBB and rven in that crappy movie Ricky B. No overacting in Bajirao, Gully Boy, DDD. Gunday was horrible.

Shahid, ofcourse.... No comparision at all.

Shahid is Ranveer’s senior so no comparison.

In this scene alone shahid has acted better than everything ranveer has done so far.

Ranveer is better but it’s pretty close
