Aishwarya was supposed to do Karishma's role in Dil To Pagal Hai

Talking about the early stages of her career, the actress revealed in an interview with Femina, “Even before winning the titles, I was being pursued. Dharmesh Darshan had offered me 'Raja Hindustani'; Yashji (Yash Chopra) wanted to launch me in Maine Toh Mohabbat Kar Li, which became ‘Dil Toh Pagal Hai.’”

Many actresses were considered/offered, not just Ash.

I am glad it didn't work out for her because Karishma was perfect for that role!

Yeah it needed that chirpiness and vivaciousness that Karishma had in spades. Not Ash's wheelhouse

Although if I remember correctly the role was offered to Juhi before anybody else and she rejected it because she didn't want to play second fiddle to Madhuri

She has confirmed it many times

It was for the best ,because she'd have ruined it. Without Karishma that film would have been pretty boring

Yes, it was. But I'm so glad she said no to the role. Karishma was absolutely perfect for the role.

juhi cannot even move properly let alone dance..what were they even thinking..can you imagine the horror 'le gayi le gayi' would have become..thank God for small mercies

I think even kajol was offered this role. Karishma was perfect for it
