Her dialogues, when there is more than Kyun Virat Kyun, Meri Beizzati Kar rahe/rahi ho, and Sai toh aisi hi hai variety are so repulsive (evidently good for her character) and the last three episodes they have actually been nauseating. But she doesn't even mouth them with the 'anguish' that she's supposed to feel. It sounds shrill and nuisance worthy. The character gives the creeps but that is merely by her presence -- especially the last two three episodes, she has been actually giving the feels of this snake that is lying in your sheets and you get into bed not knowing that it's going to slither over you, hiss at you and finally bite you 😖😖

As exaggerated as the desi TV serials are, the actor has to perform the most ridiculous scenes, spout the most nonsensical dialogues, with the total conviction that the character is real. The character is actually going through all those emotions. Then the audience connects with them.

Aishwarya has not understood her character. That much is clear. Yes her anguish is justified. But scenes with her end up looking comical! It's really sad she doesn't get it. In fact in a couple of episodes last week, she looked like she was laughing through the scenes. Maybe but you don't reflect that when you are in front of the camera.

Ayesha has clearly improved. I do wish she would work on her family confrontation scenes, especially the dialogue delivery. She's fine in confrontations with Virat, I've noticed. I liked her character first and started watching the serial. Now I cannot imagine anyone else as Sai. Even her defects..or rather her limitations now belong to Sai!

Neil of course is really good. Even his family confrontations sometimes he overdoes it. He underplays in scenes with Aishwarya, has anyone noticed?? Or am I imagining it? I can't imagine anyone else as Virat. His softness, his acquired patriarchy, his aggression all together have made Virat an interesting character. And that is Neil's contribution to a large extent.

Basic question...what is good acting? When you believe the story that is being told to you, and root for the characters!

@TM: Wonderful take.

I am not an expert to talk about acting, but to my limited knowledge, when we watch the characters on the screen, we should see only the characters and not anyone acting there. So basically for me the actress playing Mrs.MIA fails there most of the time with others occasionally.

Considering I haven’t watched the last two episodes (because it disturbs me to see the zillat arena in action again, without surety of a comeback ), I don’t feel qualified to comment on the caps you have shared.

Based on previous episodes, I find Ayesha and Aishwarya on par with their acting skills. Pakhi has less variation in scenes, as she is either sad, shocked or angry. So I won’t judge her with the same scale as Ayesha, who is a lead and falls short in certain important emotional sequences. She has a strange habit of breaking down sentences when angry that comes across as quite odd. For eg. “Aap jo. Baat baat pe. Mujhe taane. Marte rehte hain. Kabhi aapne. Socha Hai. Ki mere dil ko kaise lagta. Hoga?” *Insert weird sniffling in between after each pause”.

But this same Ayesha aced the worried wife sequence shown recently in the shoot out scenes. I don’t know if she would revert to the same sequence of dialogue delivery, but she is growing as an actor and that’s pretty visible.

With Aishwarya, I said it earlier and I will say it again - she is doing what’s needed. Her character does not demand sympathy from the audience. It is MEANT to be frustrating, so that we cheer internally when Sai insults Pakhi. Pakhi is not a negative lead. She is the second lead, who will throw a pity party and raise everyone’s BP. There is very little variation or scope for nuanced acting in this character, so you really can’t track growth like in Ayesha’s case.

Neil does a good job in emotional scenes, but he can also lean towards the dramatic with finger raising and “bas, XYZ” every couple of episodes.

What makes a good actor? It’s a person who imbibes and dons every little bit of their character convincingly. Who makes you forget that they are acting and playing a role in each scene. A person who catches the nuance of their role perfectly.

The leads in this show are new and will learn with time. I won’t call any of them good actors at present. They just get the job done and for now, that’s enough for me.

Absolutely! This is spot on! Both Ayesha and Aishwarya have lots of scope for improvement. Because of the offscreen happenings and just because of playing the positive female lead, Ayesha gets hailed as even better than Neil, which is absolutely laughable. It seems impossible for fans to have objectivity in analysing acting due to them being so involved in the offscreen happenings.

As an actor, Neil is on a different plane, simply because he's so effortless. He actually becomes Virat every time he's on screen. Ayesha's dialogue delivery lacks conviction and urgently needs major changes. It comes across as if she's reciting what has been memorised part by part, which is not natural acting. Her crying scenes are also way overdone, especially the one when she cries looking at Virat (from outside the hospital room) through the glass. Aishwarya's dialogue delivery is much better, but she can't do anything more with expressions as the character of Pakhi lacks depth in the screenplay. She can only give those angry stares or smug looks or sad face. What else is there for Pakhi to do ? The story lacks depth for all characters except Sai (and maybe Virat to some extent).

My goodness. You said it 👏 I kept wondering how to describe Ayesha’s strange dialogue delivery and you put it there perfectly - she really sounds like she is RECITING the dialogues! Those weird breaks in sentences are exactly that. Otherwise, who speaks like that in real life? In the last few episodes too, she lapsed into this kind of dialogue delivery despite a restrained acting in the hospital scene. It needs to be looked into asap.

Delivery wise, indeed, Aishwarya is much smoother. I saw the hospital scene recently, and I could tell the underlying frustration and fear that Pakhi feels at seeing Sai there. The expressions and the dialogue delivery were doing what’s needed - convey Pakhi’s limited range of emotions as per screenplay. She is “almost” out of control because she fears Sai will be back in Virat’s life. People don’t look pretty when they have such horrible emotions within themselves. Ayesha herself makes some of her own “non good looking” expressions when she is conveying rage and stubbornness, but her character is meant to look like that at that moment. She was more restrained than usual in the hospital scene but if you rewind to past episodes, Sai doesn’t look pretty either when she is angry and on the threshold.

Pakhi overall is meant to be a frustrating character. That’s the whole game of the show!

Offscreen shenanigans by fans or actors don’t bother me but I can’t deal *shrugs shoulder* when Neil is compared unfavourably with Ayesha 🤷‍♀️ He is certainly not what I would call a nuanced actor, but he is miles ahead of Ayesha. They can’t be compared on the same scale at all.

The story is a rinse and repeat of beizzati with SaiRat as candy. There are some genuinely beautiful moments between Sai and Virat that are the hook, but the whole show is one large arena where Pakhi is prime challenger in the classic “other woman” trope. If you remove the candy of sweet Sai-Virat moments, there is literally no substance in the show as far as story is concerned.

Screenplay wise, like you mentioned, only Sai has a range to exhibit. Virat gets a range too but not as much as the female lead. Rest everyone is on one scale or the other, including Pakhi. So growth can only, in the interest of fairness, be tracked for Sai.

Hey!

What I look for in actor- the character you play is truthful and not a caricature, a thin external representation of someone who barely resembles a human being. I must believe what you say is real and that you're not reciting, spouting or commenting.

I didn’t know any of the actors before including Neil. But Neil is undoubtedly in his best form & there’s no comparison with the rest of the cast because he has been in the field for 14 years, experience matters. He’s a Veteran. I think he’s underrated as an actor. I do watch shows but never came across Neil. I think the larger recognition came for him with this role. For me Virat as a character is a total disappointment owing to the inconsistency & if its an exact remake there’s nothing much to look forward to. There’s nothing apart from Neil’s acting that keeps me hooked to Virat. The little nuances he brings forth to Virat is praiseworthy. However during the whole ousting drama his acting felt a bit dramatic- probably he was not convinced with the character or whatever. Otherwise Neil aces emotional scenes & undoubtedly the police work. You never feel its Neil, the transition is so smooth. He delivers everything I am looking for in an actor. I don’t think ppl compare him with the two ladies because you really can’t. They are all different. The parameters for comparing Neil with Ayesha/ Aishwarya doesn’t really exist.

Ayesha- I was unimpressed with her in the initial episodes. She is backed by a strong script but god the tremendous improvement she has bought in her acting is applaudable. She excels in scenes where she has to portray a chirpy, fun loving 18YO. Wasn’t a fan of her emotional scenes. But the recent breakdowns specially the GC was done perfectly. I liked the hospital scenes too. During the Ladakh confrontation except for the dialogue delivery everything else was on point. But yes she definitely needs to improve on dialogue delivery& should get away with emphasising certain words. That being said, I believe that comes with practice. She has the most SS & might not get enough time for rehearsals. But I see consistent growth in her & as an audience that’s what matters for me. She has a long way to go but she’s already excelling considering this is her 1st show. If I have to compare her with Aishwarya since its kind if first show for both she’s way higher in terms of acting. Yes call it better script, practice or SS she’s proved her mettle enough. She looks real & convincing as Sai. I see a bright future for her

Aishwarya- For me she did a good job till Samrat marriage track. Pakhi for me as a character is as irrelevant as it can be. There’s no scope for improvement & dialogues are repetitive. But I don’t see much variations in her facial expressions & most of the times its only when the camera pans on to her face she comes into the form. She tries hard & those facial contortions are definitely failing her. Looks comical. Could be because she is unconvinced of the character as such. See if you mute the audio for her dialogues you will not be able to understand her expressions & that for me is not a good actor. But she’s getting the work done with whatever she’s given with. But her dialogue delivery needs to improve. Its so annoying to me personally. She keeps taking breath in between. You can hear that hiss sound throughout. Its sounds like parasel tongue. I think she’s making an attempt to make her sound sweeter but that part is so annoying. Also she can do a chirpy, fun loving role better just like what she did during the initial days. Also since we have already have Roopkatha to compare her with & Aparajita did a wonderful job there. So I believe the expectations were also high from Aish. I don’t really know much abt offscreen dynamics. For me its starts and ends with the show.

Senior cast- All of them are brilliant specially Kishore ji, Bharati maam, Sheetal &Shailesh Ji

They should have taken someone very experienced actor for paakhi. Someone like riddhi dogra or aalisha panwar could have done wonders to this character. The writing done of paakhi's character is horrible plus bad acting makes it more terrible. The actress who played paakhi in Bengali version was well known experienced actor and even who played sai's character in Bengali was a very good actress, so the confrontations scenes used to be fire. Ayesha has her own limitations but sai's strong character covers it to some extent but paakhi and virat's character don't have the same thing. Neil still tries to emote well which most of the time works for virat, that happens because Neil is a experienced actor but the same can't be said for Aishwarya. Both ayesha and Aishwarya has so much work to do in their acting and this is only their first show but if you truly want to compare them with new comers, the Imlie female lead is a brilliant actor even though she is a new comer she performs so brilliantly so thus another lady in that show and the ml is equally good so all of their scenes come out good without any bad acting . The molki female lead is a good one also and even it's her first show. A good actor evaluates the scene 100 times better than what is in the script brings so much to the character than what is written for him. A good actor makes you feel for the character's emotions even though the character is wrong.
