You think all these petty comments about how Imlie is just a "maid" are coming out of nowhere?😆 Naa....it reflects a shallow mindset cultivated over time that only views someone's worth on the basis of what clothes/makeup/jewelery they have on...that's how most of the world functions....on pure shallowness😆.

So that is why there is a subset that views Malini as the "well put together" wife/bahu in saris/choodiyaan and thinks the show is only about her and how she is being "cheated"😆.....Imlie doesn't look like a wife in daily appearance toh usko dismiss kiya jaata hai as "maid"....lol....which is why all these heavy duty sindoor scenes are put in to remind the people who have goldfish memories ki Imlie is his duly married wife even if she doesn't go around in suhagan look all day😆.

I don't dwell much deeper than that but I'm thankful that the show has found a loyal audience that has shown an openness to actual content than shallow superficial cliches that are a dime a dozen in most other shows.

+1. Aptly put.

It's not an easy pill to swallow. The amount of replies pertaining to Imlie looking as that "generic" servant just baffles one indeed. Imlie doesn't need to boast about her marital status unlike Malini who keeps on reminding about the limitations on privacy between a married couple. That is what sets her miles apart from a stereotypical FL.

Even Nishant & others have stated to stand for who Imlie is, no need to variate herself for the sake of others.

The ones who are GENUINE, love Imlie for herself....and the Tripathis prove this with the warmth they shower on Imlie and always ask her to be herself in every scenario....yeah they joke around with her too and poke fun at her mad antics, but it's not from a place of superiority to put her down.

Malini has now proven there was never anything genuine about the supposed "warmth" she displayed towards Imlie all this while....it was always coming from a place of her own superiority and subtly conveying that Imlie was beneath her but she is still being "benevolent" towards her. When Imlie managed to achieve the spotlight simply by being herself, Malini was not able to tolerate it.

I haven't managed to go back and rewatch older epis much this weekend but I do remember bits and pieces of how Malini came to "like" Imlie more....lol it was over things like Imlie putting mehendi on her when her own mehendi got spoilt....bas itne mein hi Malini ko suddenly lagne laga ki Imlie is awesome cuz this act made Malini feel like Imlie pampered her😆....then later on, Imlie giving her her own dupatta, Imlie putting that PD style makeup on her....all of these things were agreeable to Malini cuz they made her feel special and pampered.....I imagine if Imlie was standing in front of her with the same makeup and someone had dared to praise Imlie, then Malini would have soured on her😆.....she wanted to decide how much and when Imlie should be praised also....on her own terms😆.

Now she isn't being able to "control" Imlie's rise in terms of her success as well as the way she is coming into the spotlight toh Malini is showing how she really felt all this while about her....that Imlie was nice enough for a "servant"....there was always the asterisk of a "servant" for Imlie in Malini's mind, that is why she never really forcefully defending Imlie that much when her mom called Imlie a servant so crassly so many times. Cuz she did belong to the same mindset where she didn't fully view Imlie as a person worthy of respect on her own merit, without the asterisk of her social status.

Which is why I again feel that Adi always sensed this in Malini😆....that she did indeed judge people by their social status...but because she didn't do it as overtly as her Mom, I guess he let it go😆.

Since I rewatched that scene recently where Malini accused him of not knowing the woman he married and does he not trust his own choice that he would never choose someone who had such ghatiya soch?😆....I do feel Adi felt cowed down by all this enough to not trust his instinct on Malini....he could sense that she subscribed to many of the same general beliefs as her mom but he never managed to directly confront her about it......just let the relationship continue on from a matter of convenience, guilt, jo bhi.

Cuz nothing else explains to me how this would be a simmering issue for 7 years and Adi wouldn't wonder ki why does Malini never do anything beyond token pushbacks when her mom insults him and his family? Either their levels of interaction were too infrequent for it to ever rise to big arguments or Adi kept letting it go thinking that Malini is nice otherwise toh yeh sab jaane do.

They were such a huge mismatch....Adi really needs to reflect on that....what made him think that a guy like him who is all about his pride as an "aam aadmi"😆 could ever sustain a relationship with a high society girl who just does token defenses of him when her mom insults his social standing? He really thought that Malini happily riding around on a bike with him means that she supports him over her mom? 😆

But then that is the overall perception. Even Aparna said more than once that Adi is lucky with his grumpy and angry disposition he got a bright and ☀️😳 girl like Didi.

Secondly as BS rightly in his anger put out loud that before marriage it might have seemed romantic for a high society girl to choose a guy on the bike.

Deep down though Didi has complete DNA of Mrs C. Both mother and daughter chose someone below their society standards, and perhaps, however didi might seem to hate the relationship of her parents, at the back of her mind she might have subconsciously thought of having such a husband on leash like Anu has Dev.

She might have worn then"idealist" garb to impress the guy who seemed hardly to look beyond his work and took everything on its face value. He also might have thought that a girl who is going against her mother's wishes to be with him as truly rebellious and thinking above caste, economy and society perception like him.

BS has failed big time in deciphering the true genes of Mrs c

@bold: Yes, Malini has effectively fooled many people, including herself😆 with this token "rebellion" in front of her mother that has made people think she is not like her Mom.....when the reality is now being revealed that she was always more like her mom than she cared to admit to herself.

Adi has blurted out the truth in his anger many times that he did suspect Malini chose him for the '"romantic" image of a high society girl roaming around on a bike with "aam aadmi" like him😆....but Malini always managed to successfully cover it all up with sugary talks and a guilt trip so he went back to thinking he must be mistaken😆.

I mean imagine if someone asks you directly ki do you think my soch is ghatiya? lol what will you say to that person then, especially if you are dating/married to that person? This is what happened with Adi.....he never felt comfortable having an honest conversation with Malini about his thoughts on her...isliye he suppressed everything for 7 years and carried on thinking ki on the surface she seems nice/sweet/adjusting with his work toh that's good enough😆.

I would love it if the writers actually acknowledged all this rather than feeding us this bullshit of Adi-Malini claiming they were each other's best friends😆.....what "best friends" call each other "aap-aap" for 7 years? Kuch bhi😆.....high time they unravel Adi's delusions about Malini.

Your point is valid re: the other glaring similarity between mom-daughter of choosing a man beneath their social status probably thinking he'd be easier to control via guilt. Mrs. C definitely seems to think she can control Dev through jataaoing her ehsaans in setting up his career.....Malini just tried to control Adi through a different kind of guilt trip but end intent was the same as her mom.

Now if you see older episodes, she has hardly stopped her mother from insulting Ts. She might have sided with them to earn brownie points, put she had hardly taken a stand which was completely unfair to the sweet and mild natured Ts.

She is hardly adjusting. During that kitchen episode when imlie pointed out women working in kitchen on Sundays she Benevolently says we will also help on Sundays. As if she is granting her help a part time holiday to enjoy the day. The condecending nature was always there...Adi just didn't bother understanding. Because he was never bothered with how thr relation between his wife and other family members developed. He never told MOON to touch his mother's feet on the first day of her college rejoining.

Dev had a different axe to grind. He might have needed his FILs contacts for getting the success. He has been thoroughly selfish and dishonest. And writers have portrayed his character implying the audience to feel sorry for him.😳..so I highly doubt they are gonna come out with the explanation on this best friend saga...

As for the Tripathis thinking Adi could never do better than Malini😆.......yes, that is definitely a huge part of the reason they are in this mess.

Malini successfully convinced everyone that she was as good as it gets for Adi😆.....she basked and preened in that importance every chance she got. Which is why she can't stand it now that the Tripathis are showing a sense of being impressed by Imlie as she gets the limelight of achievement.

Adi had started to understand somewhat once he brought Imlie home on Holi ki the family may like Malini, but Imlie is literally the LIFE of the home......they didn't continue on from that thought process much after that though and I think it's needed for Adi to introspect further. He needs to dig deeper ki why it is so ki Imlie jaan hai ghar ki in such a short time when supposedly according to everyone, including himself, Malini was the "perfect" choice for him and the only one who could jhelo him.

Kabhi yeh nahin socha Adi ne ki Imlie not just jheloes him but understands him so well too? Why is it so? Cuz kismat ka likha? lol ok chalo maan liya Kismat ka likha....but yeh bhi socho ki kyun likha kismat ne? Cuz she was the right choice for you....even as you wasted 7 years mistaking a sense of obligation for a "right match".

I think unraveling this would need someone to ask Imlie to describe Adi through her eyes😆....it will hit them then that her level of understanding of Adi is far deeper than anything Malini managed in 7 years.....only then will the scales start falling from their eyes regarding this myth that has been created about how mahaan Malini has supposedly jheloed khadoos Adi for 7 years and done the ehsaan of marrying him😆.

Arey because Moon toh DEVI thi na....the QUEEN of his life?😆....how could he, a "lowly peasant" ever ask the Queen to touch his mother's feet?😆....Jokes apart, it all again goes back to that HAQ question....he feels that haq with Imlie to ask her things with an apnapan that he never felt with Malini. It was always a sense of formality and obligation with Malini like he was one of her subjects showering gifts on his Queen😆.

And yes, I noticed it during the epis in real time also that Malini just makes it appear as if she disagrees with her Mom but she never did much more than a "Mom, please" to stop her from insulting the Tripathis and Adi.....it was the same thing on a rinse/repeat cycle everytime in the garb of supposedly standing up for her in-laws. Bas bolne ko bol do but never really take any action about it. The Tripathis were too sweet to expect anymore and went along with anything cuz they thought Malini is Adi's happiness.

This was always a sticking point that no matter how disgustingly her mother behaved, Malini seemed to get over it quickly enough....yes, I get that she's her mom at the end of the day but Malini not ever really taking a proper stand regarding her mother's behavior was always problematic. It is now becoming clear that it was all building up towards showing that she never really disagreed with her mom, that is why she didn't really stop her mom. Only when she can get some brownie points and prop up her image does she do token speaking up against her mom....otherwise she doesn't care much for taking a stand for what's right.

Adi never went on his knees in the middle of nowhere before Didi😆 so I guess he did know. He might seem straight faced when his family calls him Khadoos, Gabbar and what not and this might sub consciously have affected his choice too. Thinking someone who is approved and liked by his family might just be the key to have a better relation within the family. And for that he took Mrs C ke obvious taunts and insults too in a stride.

That Imlie understands him better than anyone, he knows. The way she puts her finger right on the pulse when he is sick and refuses to take the meds. In 2 short answers she wears down his guards and khadosiyat and manages to make him smile through tears(waise I rewatched and noticed he was wiping his nose with the blanket...) he just doesn't know how to get through her right now. They have reached a status quo.

Also what happens to that transfer to Mumbai application?
