Pros and cons of KYM

This forced hiatus from KYM this week because of the Kyunki drama set me thinking what it is about the show that has got us hooked that even the absence of a couple of episodes can drive us nuts. But it is not as if we are always happy with this show either. So I thought we can recollect all the pros as well as the cons of this show.

Pros:.

1. For me the first and fore most thing that makes this show different from the rest from BT stable is the fact that so far there have been no divorces, cross marriages and ONS. (Even Neesha divorce is suspect). There were close calls on all these counts and the current track is on the brink of cross marriage. Hopefully better sense would prevail on the creatives and they dont go down that dirty road.

2. The main lead consummated their marriage only after they confessed their feelings to each other and both of them are sober when it happened. There was no sense of guilt or shame on the part of either of them the next day.

3. Michi - The combination of the naram and the garam is enough to set the screen ablaze. This jodi has the physics, chemistry and biology all going for them.

4.Despite all his flaws, the hero treats his wife with respect (that is when he is not driven insanely jealous). I have not seen another BT hero asking his wife's permission to start a family.

Cons

1. The weakest area of KYM is the lack of a strong script. They have not bothered to develop any other character after they got Michi hitched. Other than Michi, the only other storyline they have is Suki and her innumerable problems, whether it is her affair with Alaap, her raaz, her elopement, now again the possibility of getting back with Alaap. It is pretty tiring to say the least. We have Sowmya, we have Bobby. But nothing is done about them.

2. A realistic and multi-dimentional character like Ayesha has been butchered and reduced to a unidimentional obsessive maniac out to break Michi at all costs. This has become repetitive and boring not to mention highly irritating.

3. Illogical twists - In the pretext of testing the hero's trust and love they have thrust absolutely brainless tracks such as the PIM and PA tracks. It is sometimes hard to sit through them without wanting to break the T.V. set.

Well these are some of my thoughts. Can you add some more?

Another major flaw according to me is sidelining a character like Neev, whereas they could have easily developed his character by starting a Neesha track..That would have done a world of good to Ayesha's character also...But these people cannot think beyond Michi and ofcourse their latest addition to the list- Sukriti and her innumerable problems, which unfortunately takes a heavy toll on Michi..So we zero down on Michi again!

what is undigestible is that an important track of inder's murder mystery has been left half way ....ayesha'a mom who cld have played a huge role in turning ayesha into the old one has simply vanished from scene....

I just want them to get Michi back together again and do something new like shown some other people in the show as well and I'm not tallking about Sukriti-Saket and Alaap stupid story 😡 because I couldn't careless about those 3 anymore they make sick and I am so tired of seen their faces,it's time for everyone in the house to know who killed Prachi's bad,we know but the Shah family don't and I think that it's time they do.

Opti, u pretty much covered it all.

If they have to concentrate on Michi...they could have shown them facing challenges together....at work, at home etc.

Ayesha's mom's character is one wasted one! She could have recovered....staying at home and connecting with Inder's family.....I know I'm reaching...but this would have forced ayesha to see them differently...

As a result KYm'll probably have a short run as they'll run aground for ideas. Hope there are no leaps or the other crap that are de rigueur in all Ekta shows.

Pippa, my main worry is the absence of a convincing plot other than the stupid love triangle which is not even a triangle because Michi love each other and WWW is just a tangent trying to stick to one end of the straight line and the parallel Suki track with her stupid problems. Any long running show has to give room for other characters to grow so that the story can keep moving around them while the main lead is still kept in focus. KTH managed to run for nearly four years because there were so many characters which were shown along with the main leads. KYM is one show which is getting stuck with Michi and not going beyond them. While I love the focus on Michi, the creatives are sadistically not even showing that properly. My fear is that whatever I listed as pros of this show may end up being broken because the creatives will just run out of ideas.

Yes, Inder's murder mystery would have been a good track to focus on. So too would have been a Neesha track which had so much of potential. New characters could have been introduced for Sowmya and Bobby which could have provided some lighter moments. In fact the absence of Suyesha has removed the comedy element. May be they are making up for that by turning their entire show into comedy circus!

guys!!

check this VERY OLD article out. The main story was supposed to be "loosely" based on a novel called "Arif" (I read that somewhere else) about two stepsisters. So...I don't think we are going to loose WWW for some time.

Ekta Kapoor goes online to cast for her forthcoming urbane soap 'Kis Rishtey Se' now renamed "Kayamath"

SMALL SCREEN Going online sounds innovative for Ekta Kapoor
Balaji Telefilms Limited is at it once again. After presenting high TRP Kasam Se, Kyunki.. and rest of them, it's time from yet another saga. Touted as based on a popular novel, the script will be penned by Bollywood biggies as the serial is slated to be positioned against Nach Baliye on prime time. Titled Kis Rishtey Se, the new soap to be aired on Star One has Shabbir Ahluwalia and Karan Wahi for male leads and Ronit in a cameo. As for the actresses for this story of two stepsisters, the hunt is on to find female leads to fit the roles. But this time online, as Ekta Kapoor plans to conduct the search for the leading ladies on www.baajaa.com.

"We were looking for classifieds inviting for entries. Online option sounded innovative, as it would be scaling many cities. It is a different media of communication to reach out to the youth and find the real face of Balaji Telefilms. There are no auditions. They only have to send their pictures and details. We have been getting hits from Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad," says Ekta Kapoor, creative director, Balaji Telefilms Limited.

The two month old website is popular with users for posting advertisements of goods, sales and services. "The ShowBiz section was introduced late last week. As for the soap, my wife swears by Kasam Se. So," says Chaitanya Kapadia, CEO, Bajaa.com. Balaji Telefilms will be also sourcing the requirements for their ongoing serials from the profiles posted on www.baajaa.com, he adds.

As for those who want to give it a try, "actors, actresses, writers and other professionals can create their own profiles in the ShowBiz section of the website using the 'Post a FREE Ad' button. They will also be able to attach pictures to their profiles. It can take as little as 20 seconds to create your profile," says Kapadia.

More on the soap, "it will be a family soap with a difference for the urbane family," says Ekta Kapoor. Kis Rishtey Se is slated to hit the tube by month end. And for those bitten by the acting bug and want to join the extended families and relationship sagas on the small screen, this is your chance to apply for a virtual audition. The role is probably just a click away.

Yes Yasmin, no leaps even after a year is over is a big plus for KYM. I agree that editing is so pathetic but KYM is not the only one with bad editors. The other day I caught a few scenes of Kyunki when the hour long epsode was on air. Mandira is standing near a bar table and a short distance away Ganga and two other characters (I forgot who they were) were plotting as to how they will put a few things into her handbag. The scene cuts to Mandira discussing something with one of the baddies loutside the house. A couple of scenes later they show the first scene with Mandira standing in the exact same position near the bar and the three ladies still discussing how they will execute thei plan!
