A big hi to the Ghum family,
As we are all happy with the Holi week, here I am with an OS.
I really hope you will like it. Please, let me know how it is.
I am actually not that good in writing but still wanted to give it a try.
Won't spoil it and just let you read.
Thank you !
Virat Chavan just came back in time for the Holi celebration. He was away on a mission for an entire week. The first person he was looking for was his wife as this Holi was special for both of them. He wore a white churidar kurta and went downstairs. He looked for his beautiful wife everywhere but she was nowhere to be found. At last his eyes fell on a small gift box that mentioned « For Virat Sir ». With a smile, he opened it and found a note, « Virat Sir, you have ten minutes to find me or else get ready to spend the Holi alone. »
« Challenge ? Ok, accepted dear wifey. », he smirked.
He walked to the yard and spotted a dozen of women in a row hiding behind their veils and some other veiled women were all over the place. His family was waiting for him to join in.
« Aayi, where is Sai ? », he asked her.
« Go, find her. », she pointed her finger at the women.
« Your wife got this stupid idea and you know how stubborn she is ? She threatened to spoil our Holi celebration if we don't let you participate in this stupid game. », Kaku complained.
Virat chuckled. If some people understood his amusement, others just rolled their eyes.
« Neki aur puch puch. », he winked at his mother and walked towards them.
He passed by them, one by one. He knew she wasn't there. He then looked all around and after some time came back to the family gathering.
« Kya bhai aap aapni ek lauti biwi ko bhi nahin dhoond paye ? Vahini hoti toh phatak se aapko dhoond leti. », Mohit teased him.
He passed by him and held one of the veiled women's hand and pulled her from the corner.
« What did you think ? I won't find you ? I don't need to see your face to recognize you. I know the sound of your heart. I know your smell. I know the sound of your steps. I can even recognize you by your silence. Mrs. Sai Virat Chavan, you can't hide from me. », he said unveiling her and winking at her after a short eyelock.
Shyly she squinted her eyes and walked away making him smile.
« By the way sweetheart, I took zero second to find you. », he upped his voice proudly so that she can hear him and showed her a zero with his fingers.
« Pheku. », she shook her head.
He smiled with amusement and turned towards his mother, « Aayi where are my Chunnu Munnus ? »
« Shanti se kahin beith kar kuch kar rahe honge. Tum dono jaise thode na shaitan hai. », his mother replied.
The neighbors started joining in. Sai and Virat took the elders ashirvaad then looked at each other in playful mood. He grabbed a handful of gulal and started chasing her. He threw it at her but it didn't reach her as she was quite far away. He stopped by the table to get more colors but he noticed a pichkari. As it was planted on purpose by his dear wife, it backfired on him. Instead of Sai it's him who had the gulal all over him. Sai burst out laughing. Determined to take revenge he ran behind her again.
Tired, both took a break and went to meet others. Some aunties wanted to apply color on them but they politely declined their offers. Till they haven't colored each other they can't let anyone color them.
During the break, he planned his revenge. When his eyes met with hers, he made her understand that the break was over. As the sherni she was, the only way to win over her was to trap her. If the color can't reach her then she should reach the color. He made sure she falls on the color but luckily she managed to control her fall. With a smirk he approached her and saw only a part of her dress was colored. She extended her hand for help and as soon as he held it, she pulled him down making him fall into his own trap. His entire face was yellow which made her laugh so loud.
« Mrs. Sai Virat Chavan is here to put an end to your bakwaas plan. », she laughed proudly.
« Achcha ? », he looked at her lovingly, in love with the way she calls herself Mrs.Virat Chavan.
« Get up dear patidev and catch me if you can. », she pulled him up and ran away.
Frustrated by the failed attempts, he took an entire plate of gulal and ran behind her. He then threw it at her which unfortunately for him landed on Kaku. While she got irritated, both Sai and Virat opened wide their mouth in shock.
« Bura na mano Holi hai. », they both said at the same time by hugging her, he from front and she from behind.
« Chhodo ! Dono ke dono pagal ho. », Kaku said unhappy but ticklish.
A little girl clung to Virat from behind and a little boy clung to Sai saying at the same time, « Happy Holi Mumma/Baba. »
They released Kaku from the hug and looked at their ten years old twin daughter and son. Then they turned their heads towards each other and shared an eyelock, proud of their children. Their son looked like a copy paste of him in a white churidar kurta and their daughter looked like a mini version of her in her white churidar suit.
« If you both are done behaving like kids can we finally color you ? », asked the girl with a poker face breaking them out of their reverie.
« Maast ha maast. Even your daughter knows how childish you are. », Kaku said and left.
He gave his daughter a mischievous look and caught her before she could run away. He carried her in his arms and asked her to take a plate of gulal from the table.
« Put me down, Baba. I am a grown up now. », she requested.
« You will always be my baby. I will carry you even when you will be twenty or thirthy years old. », Virat replied.
« Nahin kar payenge kyunki aap buddhe ho jaayenge. », she stuck her tongue out at him.
« Isme koi shak nahin yeh tumhari hi beti hai. Meri aisi beizzati tum dono hi kar sakti ho. », Virat said to Sai after the four had a good laugh.
« Oh hello, Baba is a police officer. He would easily carry a candy floss like you ? », the little boy replied to his sister.
« Yeh bhi koi shak nahin hai ki yeh aapka hi beta hai. Dekhiye kaise suna raha hai aapni behen ko. », Sai smiled at Virat.
The girl extended the plate to his father and just like her father's expressive eyes she signed him with hers to apply the color on her mother. He put her down and colored his wife. Sai did the same to him. Then both colored their children.
The little girl sat down on the grass legs crossed, « Baba where is my gift ? »
« Gifts toh lana hi bhool gaya ? », Virat replied putting his hand in front of his mouth.
« Jhooth. », she replied making him smile.
« Ek minute. », he said and left.
When he came back, he saw his kids on his wife's lap. This vision made him so happy. He gave them their gifts and one by one they opened them. For his daughter he brought a bracelet and he gifted his son a watch. Both were so happy that they kissed his cheeks from both sides. Sai clicked a picture of the kiss. Then Sai opened her gift while Virat was filming. As soon as she opened it she screamed and threw it away. It contained a chipkali inside. The father and the children burst out laughing. She started to hit him for the prank.
« Relax it was just a fake chipkali. », Virat informed her protecting himself.
« Heart attack aa jaata toh ? », Sai questioned.
« Achcha meri... bachchon ki maa, gussa maat karo. », he stuck his tongue out realizing he was about to call her his maa.
His children couldn't stop from laughing at him. He gave Sai another box and asked her to open it. She refused and turned her head. As he couldn't make her change her decision, he opened it himself and took out a necklace with a heart pendant. « Sairat » was engraved on it. Sai smiled. He put the necklace on her.
« Where is my gift ? », asked Virat.
« Wait a minute. », his son replied.
He ran to get the gifts. Sai also went inside to get the gifts. When she came back, she saw Virat and the kids lying on the grass and observing the flying birds and airplanes in the sky. She joined them and asked them to sit up.
« It's a a gift for all of us. », Sai informed them.
Her son opened it. It contained a family weekend trip.
« Yeaaaaaaaaah !!! Mumma you are the best. », the twins screamed in excitement and hugged her.
With a father as police officer and a mother who is a doctor, they loved their family time. Sai had another gift for Virat. Like a child, he unwrapped the present but it had another wrapping. He unwrapped it again but there was another one. After the fifth one, Virat gave up.
« Mujhe nahin chahiye koi gift vift. », Virat sulked making the kids laugh.
Sai who had filmed the entire unwrapping session cracked up.
« Come on, you are almost there ? », Sai said.
« No thanks. », Virat replied.
« Come on Baba don't be a spoiltsports. », his son teased him.
« Ab toh bete ne bhi mazak uda liya hai. », Sai winked at him.
« Hayeee !!! », he put a hand on his heart.
He took the gift and unwrapped it a few more times before finding a watch inside. Just like her pendant, his watch had « Sairat » engraved inside.
« Now our gifts. », said the boy.
« We shared our pocket money and we bought a pendant necklace with our family picture for you mumma. », said the girl.
« And a key chain with our family picture for you baba. », said the boy.
Sai and Virat looked at each other then looked at the kids mischievously and hugged them tightly. Happy, all of them lay down on the grass. Both his children were resting their heads on each side of his chest. He had extended his arm so that Sai can rest her head on it. His daughter took a selfie of them with his phone, capturing this perfect moment. He recalled how ten years ago he feared losing his wife and his children quite a few times during her complicated pregnancy and how he almost lost her after she gave birth. She had lost so much blood that even the doctors had said she woulnd't survive but his prayers were listened by God and she was brought back to life. When few years later she wanted to have more kids, as he himself had always joked about having a football team, he refused to have more. He didn't want to take any risk with her life, afterall she was the love of his life. His family was complete, small but complete. He had a wonderful wife, a mini version of his wife and a mini version of him. They even named their son SAVIR. Sa from Sai and Vir from Virat. And they named their daughter SARA. Sa from Sai and Ra from Virat.
Kaku looked at them from far. When the four of them where together the world around them didn't exist. While everyone was busy in playing Holi, in the middle of the crowd they looked alone in the world. Married for fifteen years, she disliked Sai since then but she also admired her for keeping the family happy with her liveliness.
