The TRP system and how it works

Let me begin this with a disclaimer: This is not a preach post😆

All over SM I see posts with the fd worried about TRPs, but please don't because there is nothing that we can do about it! Here's why:

1. TRPs are calculated by the BARC which is what most channels and advertisers rely on to gain an accurate picture of the viewership.

2. TRP is calculated through a people meter installed in your TV so unless your television has one installed you are not a part of the TRP audience (no it cannot be secretly installed, since it is a survey viewer consent is required)

3. As of 2020 only 22000 households across the country have this meter installed and even if this has increased it cannot have crossed more than 50,000 households on the whole.

So, please sit back and enjoy the show while it lasts this is ITV and certain things are inevitable let's not focus on the TRPs that we cannot contribute to and if possible try and make sure the hype on SM grows so that channel might consider shifting the show to Hotstar if worse comes to worse.

True...i have long back given up on it...it's a curse of ITV ... though any country..any shows...rating matters..but ITV is worse..

But why suddenly a talk on trp..

Now everything is digital right? Like tatasky , airtel...I think the above installation thing is when we had dish wires... or are they following same method now? 🤔

Nothing... I just came across posts of fans stressing over TRPs on SM, that's why I decided to make a post because "been there done that" at some point only to realise I was not a part of the TRP audience 😆

It is the same method because I checked latest articles from a few news portals

I’m not sure though... some time ago I have read an article about BARC tie up with some kind of den setup boxes which gives accurate ratings.

Kindly discuss TRP related issues in dedicated TRP thread found in important topics/thread in the forum.
