The same question was raised by Asmi a few days back. The reply I had given her.
"You have feelings for Pakhi didi which you have buried deep in your heart and you don't even want to accept it."
For the above he first tried to explain that what she was thinking was a lie. What she was thinking was not true. He has no feelings for Pakhi now and that is why he said that it is a lie.
And then these questions arised.
Her questions were on point :
Then why did you say you can't be my husband?
Didn't you say you have committed to someone else?
Is that someone to whom you had committed was not Pakhi didi?
He was tongue tied when he heard these questions. When she told him about their history. He was overwhelmed with the amount of information Sai had and that she has misunderstood it all. He wasn't in a position to explain and didn't know at that point of time how to clear her misunderstanding.
He wasn't ready for this kind of confrontation or to discuss about his past with Sai, not at this point of time. I think he felt defeated. He wanted to build a relationship with Sai and his past had come in their way and he wasn't comfortable with it. May be even embarrassed, which I am not sure of.
It is like a you want a girl to love you and that girl has discovered that you had feelings for some other girl. His misery was how he could explain it without affecting their future relationship, their budding relationship. How does he explain her that, that was his past and now he has no feelings for Pakhi.
If Sai had loved him, he would have shared his past with her. However he is worried that when she already dislikes him, what will she do now is she knows his past. How will she react to it? Will she will even like him despite knowing his past. I believe he was going through a lot of emotions, was in a turmoil.
It was a checkmate. The last question that she asked were all valid because they were all about the past. However, the first statment was false because that is not true, because it is about now, the present.
