Let's talk about Shaurya and Shagun for a second.

I've seen a lot of people saying that Shaurya didn't really love Shagun. I think that's incorrect. He did love Shagun to some extent, enough to want to spend the rest of his life with her, but not enough to change his beliefs to fit hers.

We did see that Shaurya was upset with Shagun about the whole admission thing and he was upset after he broke off the engagement.

Shaurya had made it very clear to her from the very start that he wanted a homemaker and not a working woman. Shagun was completely aware of that. She probably did have some issues with it but she accepted it. But somewhere, she might've wanted to explore otherwise she wouldn't have applied to the universities.

When she told that she got admitted to the university in London, she knew that he would be angry. And Shaurya had been under the impression that she would not be pursuing a career after the marriage. So I guess, it would've hurt him because the person he has been meaning to spend the rest of his life with had hidden a big thing like this from him and I guess it could be taken as a little breach of trust.

And i respect Shagun so much for choosing to make her life rather than doing what Shaurya wanted her to do.

Shaurya loved Shagun but not enough to sacrifice for her.

Anokhi is about to rain down upon all his expectations of an ideal woman. And he wouldn't be able to deny because he would love Anokhi enough to sacrifice for her and that is what makes all the difference.

Love is not what you do for the person. Love is what you give up for the person.

I was going to make a post on this as well.

I dont think he loved her even though they were together for more than 2 yrs. I think he proposed to her bc she fit the sabherwal bahu criteria, as shagun mentioned as well. He wanted a wife who only tends to him and stays home like the other ideal sabherwal bahus.

He was shown being upset, more so at the fact that she decided to pursue higher studies and the fact, she didn't chose him over the fact that he was losing her. I felt like he was getting married bc she may have loved him and agreed to his 'terms and conditions'. Ii do respect her for wanting to be the mature one to tlk and to leave him if he wanted things his way. Heck, she got accepted to Cambridge!!

I'll be surprised if after all this she comes back bc we know she is.

We don't know more to their story but if he is like this w Anokhi, he didnt show a half an ounce of passion towards Shagun when she wanted to leave and did leave. Hence, I don't think he loved her at all. When things don't go his way for people he really feels for, we see him acting up in emotions. He shows his anger and spews venom. He didn't do any such for Shagun. He was level headed and almost seemed unaffected that he was losing her ...he was more affected that she didn't tell him.

He enjoyed the attention he got from her..i.e. when he refused, she kept on running behind him. But, in Anokhi's case it is and will always be diff.

I think that definitely makes sense. But there must have been some level of affection for him to want to spend the rest of his life with her.

Sure she fits into the Sabherwal bahu criteria but they did date for two years or maybe even longer.

There must be a reason they started dating.

Also being with a person for so long, you tend to get attached to them to some extent. If not even attached, you get used to them being a major part of their life.

I don't think Shaurya would marry anyone for the sole purpose of providing his family with a perfect bahu.

He'd rather remain a bachelor than marry to please others.

Love is a subjective concept. Oftentimes people consider a platonic relationship as love. I am one of those people who think Shaurya never truly loved Shagun. We can compare it to his love for Aastha. He loved Aastha, so when she left him, he turned into the insecure, angry, impolite man that he is. We don't see any dangerous reaction to Shagun leaving him. He was upset for two days and then he became normal. If he was in love, he would have been someone like Shaan (dwelling in the past, drowning in his miseries away from the real-life). Anyone would be sad if your engagement breaks off suddenly and so did Shaurya.

All in all, his real reason for marrying Shagun was that she perfectly fits the role of a Saberwal bahu as long as she chooses to not have a career of her own. You can say that he didn't love her enough to change, but I will also say that if he loved her a little bit, he would have considered her side of the story once. We don't see him doing that. Till date, we don't see him missing Shagun or talking about her once.

So I would say that Shagun might have loved him, but from his side, their arrangement was a platonic relationship.

I don’t think Shaurya loved Shagun at all. That was a relationship of convenience, he needed a wife, she was a perfect Sabarwal candidate and he went along. He showed no ounce of passion when she got admission abroad. He didn’t try to stop her which he would have if he had loved her, just acted hoity toity and asked her to choose.

The Shaurya we saw today in all his nastiness is nowhere close to the cold aloof Shaurya we saw with Shagun. Shaurya was literally boiling over with jealousy today and had no semblance of control over himself and the allegations he was spewing out. Even later sitting in his office all he could think about was his exchange with Anokhi. He is loth to believe that Anokhi doesn’t know how Ahir feels about Anokhi. Shaurya is muttering to himself that it is obvious how Ahir feels towards Anokhi so how can Anokhi not be aware of Ahir’s feelings. Of course, Shaurya in his mad blind rage is letting his imagination run wild - that talk about resting her head on Abir’s shoulder, etc, the man sounds unhinged. I think somewhere he is also aware Anokhi is not the girl he painted her to be otherwise why would he question himself as to how Anokhi can be unaware of how Ahir feels towards her.
I liked the way Shaan told his son off and pointed fingers at his gattiya soch and parvarish. The Prince was called out for his clay feet. Let’s see how repentant Shaurya is tomorrow.

To judge whether Shaurya actually loved Shagun or not I want Anokhi to get an opportunity in Cambridge or Harvard as well😛

Compare the reaction.

But in my opinion, if Shagun does not come back, she is truly a gem! It is actually Shaurya's loss and not her. Shaurya lost out on a beautiful and intelligent woman over his crappy thinking.

I wanted to Anokhi to be that competent enough too for Shaurya to be able to pinch in his ego.

Love isn't one dimensional. So he probably loved Shagun but not in a selfless, unconditional, passionate, all-heart way. If he just saw her as a perfect bahu and chose her as a bride, that would make me hate him all the more than I do now after today's episode.

By the way, I'm new to the forum. Was fuming after today's episode and wanted to vent off in a group. The first and last ITV show I watched, loved and hated was IPKKND. Joined the forum and left for it. Never thought that after a decade or so I'll be back to another show with a toxic ML. But here I am 🤷
