Arunita's followers have increased immensely on instagram. When idol started she had very few followers and i guess she has created her insta account in November 2020 only. Now her followers are around 140k

While others had more followers than her in the starting.... she have gained more than them now 🌟

Kinda hard to judge anything off of promo views. For example contestants whose promos include Neha doing anything always get max views. Many other factors such as who get their promos shared by those with many followers and whose promo is released earlier can also make a difference.

For most of the season Arunita’s followers weren’t increasing that rapidly, it was only really after the Pehla Nasha duet w/ Pawandeep that it started skyrocketing (before she was well behind Nachiket, SMP, Anjali, etc). Guess in that regard alone this pairing helped her.

Now it seems like with all the new attention and screen time she might even be slowly overtaking him. Thought he was the confirmed winner due to his insane public support but she might have a shot now (and honestly I’d much rather see her win as opposed to him).

Arunita only had around 100 followers before her audition. She didn't even post anything before the audition pic. Other contestants were more popular

I don’t think she was less popular, just that she didn’t post before so she didn’t have many IG followers. Many people knew her as the title winner of Zee Bangla and finalist/top performer of SRGMP Lil Champs. She’s even toured with Shaan in the USA as a child. Imo the only ones who weren’t popular before this season are probably Samyak, Sawaii, and to an extent maybe Ashish.

Anjali , nachiket and smp are the only contestants to have a verified account

And even in idol she wasn't much appreciated by the judges in initial days...they had some fixed contestant in their mind but when guests started appreciating arunita every week specially Alka Yagnik (she was mahaguru in lil champs) and kumar sanu (was judge in lil champs bangla) they recognised her.

She was given a Golden Mike in the Theatre Round, so hard to say if her talent was not recognized. Often little games are played as per the script of the makers in the initial stages, so one has to be cautious about conclusions.
I do feel, however, that she is more of a public choice than a judges favourite at this time. Sometimes that is good enough to see you through to the last 5.

Some judges look for contestant with something special more than just pure talent. Maybe to them she is just a great singer, but not a headline act. That can happen - not saying it has. Too early for that.
