Deepika is unquestionably a star, but her acting is patchy at best. A Piku or a Tamasha can't make up for the horrendous romcoms or period movies due to which she gained her current status.

There were prior numero unos who avergae strictly average, too. Kajol and Madhuri come to mind. Even they, in the hands of the right directors, could turn in acceptable performances if nothing award-worthy. Deepika doesn't seem to have it in her.

I sometimes wonder if it is their lack of life experience which makes the newer actors seem so shallow. I mean, starving for your art might be a cliche, but poverty, adversity, these things smash through something in your psyche and show you depths and heights of human emotion. When you haven't experienced it in real life, you're relying on your powers of observation and imagination to portray it on screen. Unless you're THAT gifted, it comes across as lacking.

For me, Ranveer carried the entire weight of Padmavat on his shoulders. I already had zero expectations from Shahid and considered him a miscast. But he at least had me entertained after I noticed his tiny nipples. I couldn’t stop laughing in the cinema hall after that visual 😆.

DP was good in Ram Leela, though I fell asleep halfway through the movie and woke up confused and disoriented- just in time to watch them kill one another. In Bajirao, I felt that PC and Ranveer stole the show. DP killed me from cringing so hard. I’m still clenching my buttocks when I watch this scene - especially 1:38 🤣

I'm sorry I spoke too soon ... Ram Leela was entertaining but I skipped most of Bajirao Mastani cuz it was unwatchable. PC stole the show there, you're right. I didn't remember that part in the clip... but it's a gem. 😆 Yikes!

Poor Shahid ... I actually like him as an actor but it looked like he was third wheeling in the movie, no kidding. He still performed his part well for whatever it was worth and you can call me bias for saying that.😆

I’m glad the clip refreshed your memory 🤣. I don’t mind Shahid either but he isn’t exactly what I have in mind as King material. He has a baby face so he still managed to look younger than Deepika. But you’re spot on! Despite the fact that Ranveer + Deepika had no scenes together, it still felt like they had more invisible chemistry than poor Shahid.

I can only envision Hrithik holding his own as a King. But then he would steal the thunder with his own beauty. I’d only imagine Khiji going crazy over him rather than DP if he was casted instead 😆

🤣 And that, my friend, is what you call kahani mein twist. LMAO ... Hilarious to say the least .... I can even imagine Hrithik looking at Khilji in disbelief and repulsion... much like he does in ZNMD to Farhaan. 😆 I didn't even feel like Deepika as the queen with insane beauty was convincing enough in the movie.

So true... that's something I think about too. People who have actually been through a lot and experienced a wide range of emotions must find it much easier to emote that when the time comes. I can't imagine nepo kids who have it all on a platter being able to convince the audience. Observing and spending time with people helps to an extent but not enough to really bring that rawness out... that someone who's been there and done that can bring to the table. Isn't that why some of them try method-acting? To experience a slice of that life they probably never would in this lifetime.

LMFAO! What an image to put in both our heads. The only woman that could justify men going crazy over her insane beauty is Aish. Had this film been made during her prime, I would have probably punched Ranveer in the face and outrun him to catch a glimpse of her first 😉

Things have definitely improved for "married actresses over age 31" but we (Bollywood) have a long way to go.

Where are the roles for this beautiful talented being??? She's only 34. I hope we don't have to wait for her to be 40+ to have some good roles like an English Vinglish or Mardaani 2 :(

Nailed it - shes invisible and taken a back seat during her PEAK. No wonder other newbies have taken over
