ITV predominantly female viewers seem obsessed with the Mills and Boon style of romance between older mature man and young innocent woman, that’s a typical trope of romance novels since forever.

Not just a romance trope. Some of us genuinely prefer older guys. My hubby is almost 10 years older than me. Been married over 15 years. If it works, it works. 😆

I don't have an issue with age gap really but just wish Anokhi was a bit older since 19 seems really young to think of settling down and getting married. But then again she isn't thinking about that and has been forced into it. I guess if you fall in love then things might be difference and since this in Indian TV, I don't know how long they will prolong the dating stage. Hope they show their relationship build up over time before they get married.

I don’t think Anokhi is going to settle. If marriage does happen, it will take time.

People get some kind of thrill seeing teenage girls getting married to guys much older than them. There is Ghum Hai Kisi Ke Pyaar Mein, Imlie and many other such shows. On the other hand, shows like peheredaar piya ki get bashed and shut down due to the FL being older than the ML.

Oh I was so pissed off when Pehredar Piya Kii was ranted off back then and then we have Barrister Babu in exactly opposite roles where hero married a child and they are throwing some stupid SR related content with child actor and fans calling that dealing with bold issues... It is the hypocrisy...

And now coming to age difference issue - well this has always been issue with DJs shows... Their FL characters are usually 10 to 15 years younger than ML character.. I don't known why.. But that's fine... In other show they showed 21 year old getting engaged to her love interest and then moving out for a couple of years for sake of her career... So, I do expect this Ph to handle this maturely... Though undoubtedly in other shows they have screwed up whole show by making ML marry someone else too😆... So let's hope they take smarter path this time as show is about Shaurya and Anokhi!

Whats wrong in getting married to a someone with a generation difference almost?🙄 If your mentality meet that person or you love him/ her ,its totally fine!

Its not the motive of the show!

And after marriage yeh show saas bahu banta hai ya nahi, yeh abhi s kese pata chal sakta🤦

Till then, we can enjoy the narrative!

And one cannot generalise the fans!

I didnt watch pehredar show but, when i look into its shut down reasons, that was ridiculous. And most importantly, it was shut because of the culture and area they picturized which became an issue.

In barrister babu, they didnt hype child marriage. They are showing an era jab yeh hota tha and how the male lead is not ready for married life with a girl who just got periods and is being categorised as women! That show is literally breaking boundaries by highlighting periods issue and other stuff!

Khair....saakk is not a social drama. Its more realistic and being executed well till now!

As far as I remember Shaurya is 10 years elder than Anokhi. Shaurya's DOB is 17/07/1990 and Anokhi's DOB is 05/05/2000. So yup they have 10 years of gap between them.

Why did they show 10 years difference - just to create hype ??

ML looks young enough to play 25-26 years old.

If he did masters 6+12+4+3 <= 25 or with a year or two job experience with masters.

In real life the age gap between the actors is more. Deba is 23 while KV is 36. And I guess every one has personal preferences. Some people don't mind age gaps some do. Each to his own. I don't see it as an issue. It would have been an issue for me if he was some lusty professor eyeing young female students. But the characterization of the ML is not as such and the FL lead is not shown immature imbecile. She is quite mature for her age as she has already seen enough hardships in life escaping a forced marriage and a doomed future. She is not a typical damsel but yeah I do see the point of it being a new ITV trend. May be it's seasonal. Like first there was a saga of Family dramas of K serials then we had extreme Alpha males borderline abusive with forced blackmail or convience marriage, then there was a seaon for elderly love stories with Ram Kapoor and Sakhshi Tanwar and others. My point is may be it is a trend as or just a co incidence it too shall pass. We can't keep on blaming audiences. They evolve and mature.
