I voted "No", because saying it's a fluke would suggest it's accidental, which it isn't. Alia's "success" has been very carefully planned, which is actually the opposite of a fluke.

Yes, it's a fluke. Her career is so carefully orchestrated that there's no semblance of real world problems in it. It's like everyone else is trying to walk through a tough terrain but Alia is treading through it like a stroll in the park.

No once is a fluke. She has atleast 6 or 7 hits. Actually most if not all were profit turners 👌

Fluke definition:

A fluke is an unexpected stroke of good luck. ... The word fluke was first used in 1857 in reference to a lucky shot at billiards. If something good happens to you by chance when you're not expecting it, that's a fluke. The word fluke can also be used in a negative or insulting way.

So going by this definition, I don't think any sane person can claim her career is a fluke.

Has she been at the right place at the right time? Yes.

Has Karan Johar helped her TREMENDOOUSLY? YES.

Would she be where she is without Kjo? No.

But but but but but. She has DELIEVERED great performances. And that means that we have to bow down to the queen of arts.

Who else could have done Raazi the way she did - Deepika? Sonakshi? Nope.

Who else would have done justice to Gully Boy's Safeena - Shraddha?? Parineeti? Nope.

Who was gonna slay Udta Punjab - Katrina? Sonam? NOT APPLICAPLE

Who had the power and audacity to cary off Highway - Kangana? Vidya? NOPE at all.

Karan saw her potential and recommended her to Imtiaz Ali and Gauri Shinde. She performed her ASS OFF and the world saw her acting chops. The talent speaks for itself. The rest is history.

The numero uno queen always gets the most haters, nothing new. 😉

I love your posts but let's agree to disagree❤️

Deepika to me is not only far more beautiful and graceful than Alia, but also a better actress. I might be in the minority but I can't connect to Alia's acting. I feel she overdoes it, is not natural. Except Udta Punjab which was a fantastic performance. There's something thick and unruly about Alia, as opposed to the soothing quality in Deepika's acting. That's the best way I can describe it.

that’s all good but how can someone who’s financial success defines the majority of their films be considered fluke 😆

If anything I can think of 80 people this thread should’ve been made about other than Alia 😆

I agree, Deepika is BY FAR more beautiful and graceful and iconic and queen-like and just all 'round MAGICAL/ETHEREAL than Alia for sure. And of course Deepika would have done justice to Raazi - I was just using her name for clicks. DP is no less when it comes to acting. But when I compare both of their work with Meghna Gulzar, although Deepika was stellar in Chhapaak, for me it's Alia's rawness that just takes Raazi to another level.

In other news: Taapsee and Bhumi have proved they can hang with Aloo. Kriti Sanon is another one to watch.

Even people with financial success can be flukes. But that's not the point. The point is Alia seems to me to be an anomaly, an incongruous success. Perhaps I should have worded it better.

Ok you find it an anomaly ? Cause she doesn’t have what you think are the traits of successful actress. That’s fine I get it now 👌
