If Purvi and VPS had gotten married under more fair and equitable circumstances then I think the age difference would be ok.

Same if it was 20 yr old guy marrying 35 year old woman ..as long it’s fair circumstances then it’s fine

As far as I understand, this show is a May-December love story between a widower and this girl. The term old is relative so I'll just refrain from commenting on that. The story could have been constructed as a simple love story but the Molkki tradition was included to highlight the practice that is as per the data shown by the Colors TV, still rampant in India.

I don't understand what you mean by the youngest legal aged person? If Purvi was 18 years and a day also, she'd be of legal age and that is that. What is perverse and what is not perverse is also relative so let's not play morality card here.

Molkki tradition may have turned into a practice to exploit poor girls but that's not what the relationship between Virendra and Purvi is made out to be. So maybe the show is trying to give a positive message that a Molkki relationship can be loving as well.

I don't know what you mean by fair circumstances. It's not realistic to think that every couple who get married, do so after having fallen in love or having a courtship. People can get married in strange circumstances and still have a loving and beautiful marriage.

Recently they said Purvi has completed Class 12 and she got admission in college. So, 18-19 seems like her age in the show.

True. There are 42 year olds who have 19 year old daughters. But there are also couples with such huge age gaps. This has been a matter of debate for decades. Because anything out of the ordinary, that does not satisfy the norms seems odd.

The point is if two people are happy and compatible with each other, age gap doesn't matter and they should not be judged for it.

So what is weird?

19 is a legal age right for girls? And 42 is double the legal age for men no?

Or has our government passed some law suggesting that an age gap between a married couple is wrong? Or is this some secret standard of the society? Because I see couples with a significant age difference all around me, leading perfectly happy lives.

Please give me some clarity on why this is weird.

Why something seems weird at times is because we are not used to it. Anything out of the ordinary at first seems weird.

But in the context of Indian society, this should not be weird because since ages people have been married off with huge age gaps and always girls being 18-19 at the age of marriage. So, we see huge age gap couples around us all the time, especially in our previous generations.

And the point should not be the age gap in any relationship, but the respect and understanding of the relationship, which is missing even in same age relationships today.
