I think he wants to make her self-dependent and educated so that she could take on the stupid customs society has imposed on women. To be a role model for many. That's all he thinks about for now.

And he has to take Sahara of the word Zimmedaari, Ash. There is no other way he can explain their relationship to the world as their relationship doesn't fall into any category that is defined in society. And if he accepts her as his wife before all, then he will be completely trapped in this family planning mess. So, he can't and won't do that.
