Discussion Of The Week - Email Safety.

There are many ways you can communicate with others
online, like e-mail, chat rooms, bulletin boards and instant
messaging. There are also mobile communications such
as text messaging that can be conducted offline but with
many cell phones now able to connect to the Internet,
some problems can travel across to the online environment.
In fact, many online safety practices can be applied to
your cell phone, even if you do not use it to access the
Internet.

E-mail safety tips can be viewed by clicking on the images
below:

Basic e-mail safety tips:

Change your password often and keep it in a safe
place Don't share the password with anyone. Don't open any attachments from anyone unless
they are run through an anti-virus program. Log off when done. Don't reply to spam, harassing, or offensive e-mail
or forward chain e-mail letters. Use common sense and keep personal information
personal. Delete all e-mails, unread, from people you don't
    know
  • Don't be caught by the spammers' favorite trick,
    "Remember me?"

.. whole lot of information to "munch".. but do not be put off,
they are very important!! so basically, the discussion is open
to any safety issues regarding computer and more importantly,
everyday used e-mail system.

just have your say!!

Thanks for this topic 😊

Some people don't realise that they're playing right into the hands of hackers n other such anti-social elements by forwarding e-mails or messages on messenger.

They do know that it is not safe, yet they forward such messages because they are generally religous or threaten dire consequences.

Other than being irritating, these msgs often contain virus, worms, etc.

Try as one might, it is impossible to make people stop sending such msgs.
