Not completely but to some extent I will blame it on the fact that Anupamaa woke up a bit too late. The movie Thappad denoted a similar scenario where Amrita realizes that all she has been assuming to be okay was actually unjust when she was slapped.

But if Vanraj had never cheated, he would still have been and husband but Anupamaa would have let him run over her as always.

So I would blame the patriarchal mindset of the family which made the foundation of the family rot that it would have broken even with a slight push. The affair exposition was just the straw that broke the donkey's back.

If not the affair, it would have been either Paritosh's elopement and joining the Dave's, or Pakhi falling in bad company and suffering a bad incident, or just Anupamaa collapsing under the mental abuse pressure, awfully enough not to survive it.

Another one of patriarchal strictures on women - A woman breaks or makes a family is wrong. A family is made or broken by its members not the woman.

This family was broken by Vanraj - who had an EMA. Not by

Ba with her words or

by Anupama who forgot herself or

by Kavya who slept with a married man.

Fair enough 👍🏼

Baa with her binoculars, swing , jap bag has perfected the art of taunt and manipulation.

She spares no effort in humiliating others and claims it to be her birth right.

She perceives only the flaws in other women. She has never made efforts to bring her son on track but concludes that everyone should dance to his tunes.

Her response always is My way or the High way. She has never understood or tried to understand the point of view of others.

Had baa warned her son like the way Anu did when paritosh yelled at Kinjal, had she treated Anu with respect love and understanding vanraj could have mended his ways.

There is misplaced values that brought the family to this state.

Thats what I dont like Anupama always being belittled everytime.

There is a movie called Astitva where the heroine Aditi Shrikant Pandit is forced to have a affair with music teacher and in a moment of weakness, she gets intimate with her music teacher and gets pregnant with that music teacher's son bcoz neither her workaholic husband allows her to do job nor he gives her love, support and keeps himself constantly traveling on office tours leaving his wife lonely, frustrated and yearning for love.

And Aditi's husband himself has had many affairs but when he is confronted he says I am a man dammit.

If Anupama would have committed affair or a physical intimacy with another man in a weak moment, would Vanraj or Baa and Shah family forgive her ?

Well the idea that it’s always a woman who makes or breaks a home/family is in itself pretty unfair and regressive imo...

Vanraj is a grown man who made the choice to have an affair (which he conducted for EIGHT long years, without the slightest amount of guilt 🤢) with a woman his wife of several years and mother of his three children used to call a “friend”. He broke his own home.

But that said, it’s undeniable that Baa’s upbringing made him the person that he is, so I do agree with you in that sense

Many congratulations to Anupamaa for progressing from the cramped chawl and finding a much more spacious residence for herself. Hope she thrives...
