I think so. He was a little over 4 when he met Kartik & had two birthdays with him. They had to hire an older actor because Covid restrictions (children under 10 aren't allowed to work right now)

Honestly, I don't think they are bothered by the 'cringe' factor the audience feels.

Firstly, they want to milk the oh-so-loveable chemistryof Mohsin and Shivangi. And secondly, they want to play a very very used and abused cliche track just to revive a love story which is beyond dead.

What is there more to show in the Kaira story? Sab kuch ho chuka hai. I mean the pair is like a CD stuck on a gramophone. Cannot bloody move on. Ek to Kaira is hell toxic and the maker's obsession with the pair is even further toxic. Naira, a mother to three, doing a 'Kamli' dance for her husband on his birthday. Who does that???🤪Kaunse, looney toons ki duniya sajate hai ye log.

So, how to revive this chemistry and love story. And the brilliant idea is😳, kill one partner and bring a lookalike. Age difference is a rather minuscule point. Since old times to modern, age difference does not matter. But my problem is does it have to be Sirat??? She is simply 'CRASS'. Although I did not like Naira either, but they could have established a modern, classy, working woman or businesswoman who is detached from family values and lonely and finds love and warmth of a family via Kartik, his kids and the family. Connecting via the kids, maybe. And the hypocritical Goenkas, Naira to barabari ki thi, tab bhi unko kitna problem tha, ye Sirat ko dekh lenge, to surat bhi matter nahi karega Naira ka.

Age difference is not the problem. Kartik moving on with Naira's look alike is. It's creepy.

Krishna is 10. He doesnt look or act like a 6 year old and esp someone who is half of Krishna’s age.

He was 4.5 yrs (approx after Naira-Goa track), then there was Vedika-kidney transplant drama where in they showed leap of many months including the 6month wait period in Vedika-Kartik divorce. Then there was the Luv-Kush track, then lockdown, and Naira pregnant with Akshu and now a couple of months leap.

Kairav-Sirat will have less of an age gap then Kartik-Sirat.

I mean it's not the age difference that should bother us. Nothing really all that wrong with age-gap couples at all so long as the younger partner is of legal age.

What should bother us is the idea of naira ka wafadaar deewana karthik in future falling for and replacing naira with a girl who looks just like her because naira is now dead and IMO the lookalike is 10x more annoying than naira 🤪Karthik's love for naira will seem so vain and fake then.

Kareena doesn't have the same age difference with Saif & his daughter Sara. She was a 32yo successful professional when she married Saif, not a 21yo poor student like Sirat. Moreover, Saif wasn't a traumatised widower who fell for Kareena because she looks like Amrita or expected Kareena to mother his young children.

Saif was 21 like Sirat when he married a 33yo Amrita. But again, a normal relationship. Both were rich so no power imbalance. And again, Amrita wasn't a widowed, depressed majnu for a Saif-lookalike like Kartik. And to remind you, Saif-Amrita got divorced. 21 is too young to sustain such a marriage & multiple kids. Just because people in India don't get divorced, doesn't mean it's right. Kartik has already had 3 divorces. How many more does plan to collect? 😂

I can go on about other couples you mentioned too. But hope you get the point now.

The age difference between kairav and his supposedly soon to be step mummy sirat (uggh no matter how we hate it but predictable eventually yahi hone wala hai) is nothing creepy. I don't see anything creepy about the age differences you pointed out.

Also, in other itv shows, the age difference is emphasised with the way characters look and act. They don’t get cheesy romantic song sequences and dialogues, nor do they look almost the same in age.

Firstly I can’t see Kartik falling in love with someone else because it will undo Kaira’s entire journey of 12/14 years.

Secondly, age difference is a problem because of its context.

It’s only been a few months since Naira died & to see Kartik apparently move on with her look alike, a girl who’s almost half his age, just because she looks like his dead wife is cringe.

Had they shown him settling with a woman his age, someone who didn’t look like his dead wife, it would have been digestible because it’s realistic. People die and others eventually move on, it’s life.

To fall in love with a dead wife’s look alike won’t be love but borderline obsessive in my opinion.

Dear you are forgetting how there are a lot of international viewers such as myself. Many of us abroad have come to accept that age gap love is a reality and not creepy.

But yeah completely agree about falling in love with dead wife's lookalike, especially when he loved the dead wife so much.

Progressive international viewers also understand that there is a nuance to age difference.

- A 35yo dating a 50yo is A LOT different than a 21yo dating a 36yo. The former can be healthy but the latter is predatory AF.

- It's also about how they're presenting it. They haven't aged up Mohsin one bit. Not even a pair of trendy glasses. Somehow he's still the most desirable man for every Indian woman.. And I doubt that they'll even acknowledge the age difference. If Naira would have been alive & they introduced a 21yo Kartik doppelganger, 100% they would have made age an issue for everyone. (At least initially)

Other shows that display couples with significant age difference acknowledge it. They characterize & narrative the story with that in mind. Indian and progressive international shows.

- It's not just the age difference. It's a vast wealth difference & vast phases-of-life difference that is compounded by age. That 36yo will not only romance this 21yo.. He will expect her to mother his two preteens.

Even I am an international viewers. I mentioned India because someone in the thread had said that 10 years age difference is very common there.

But again, it’s not about the age difference itself but the way it’s being presented.

This age difference and look-alike thing is really off-putting. Look-alike was still fine, had she been close to Naira's age. But here, the girl is just 21, a very young person. I don't understand Shahi's obsession with young FLs. Does he think that only girls who are 19-20 can become FLs? Is that why he killed off Naira, because she was too "old" for his liking. I would have accepted this theory had he not made a show like Anupama. All in all, this killing off Naira and bringing a really young girl as look-alike was really stupid. They could have gracefully ended KaiRa's story and went for a generation leap. That would have been so much better than destroying everything they built up in the last few years.
